Secrets In The Shadows

This glorious night, the final night. At least for now...is where the final sacrifice will take place. I look up at the sky through my windshield. The sooner the better. Every puzzle piece will soon fit perfectly together.

I smile as I park my car near the curb in front of her house. I unbuckle my seat belt, get out the driver's seat and  head over to the other side in open the passenger side of the car. I reach inside and pull the brownies I made last night out.

I shut the car and begin walking towards the front door. Arriving I ring the doorbell. A second later I hear soft footsteps before the door opens and Sophie Masters appears in the threshold dressed in bunny PJs and slippers.

She has to be the perfect sacrifice of them all.....

She tilts her head in a confused manner. "oh hey, what are you doing here?" she asks.

I hold up the tray of half brownies. " My family made too many brownies and I remembered you lived nearby. So do you want the rest?"

She smiles and let's out a happy squeal. " OMG yes! Thank you so much! Come in, come in!" and she grabs me by my arm and pulls me inside while also closing the door.

We head into the kitchen where I set the brownies down and we sit across from each other. Immediately after sitting down, she slides the plate of brownies over to her, rips the plastic off and begins eating.

I watch her as she eats. After about her third one, she asks me if I'm sure I don't want one. I smile and shake my head no.  She shrugs her shoulder and begins to reach her arm out to take another brownie but stops mid reach.

Her breathing becomes labored and thick. Her eyes roll into the back of her head and she passes out, falling from the chair and onto the tiled floor.

Her body begins shaking violently and her mouth opens, she vomits on herself. She shakes violently once more before stopping.

I slowly stand up for my chair and crouch down beside her. I place two fingers on her neck. No pulse. No heartbeat. In a mere five seconds she's dead.

I stand up. It's done. It's finally, finally done. Now I can see her. Now we can have what we want.

I head out the door not bothering to close it. I get in my car and drive the short distance to my Love's house.

I pull up to her house and get out of the car and walk up the front steps. My heart pounding in excitement.

Standing outside the door, I take a deep breath and look up at the sky.

At the eleven stars twinkling in the sky next to my constellation. This is what I've worked so hard to achieve. This is for us Huntress. For you

I raise my fist and knock on the door.

Now it is our time.
