A knock at my door wakes me up from my once pleasant slumber. I sit up, foggy from my sleep and not knowing if the knock was real or only happened in my dream.
Knock, Knock
It's real. I look at the digital clock on the table next to the couch to see it's 9:16 pm. I groan and reluctantly get up from the couch and head to the door.
Opening I rant, "Hunter I swear I will tape the key to your-oh". Seeing it's not my brother I stop mid rant. On my porch stands a pale skinned guy about my age with wavy brown hair, dressed in a blue t shirt and jeans.
He smiles awkwardly. " Hi Huntress, um, I'm Seth Hammond. We go to school together. Anyway, my car broke down and you're the first person to answer the door when I've knocked. Can I use your phone to call a cab?"
I scrutinize him. I don't see any visible weapons....and if he tries anything I think I could take him.... "Sure.... come on in".
I let him inside and he enters the house, shutting the door behind him. He looks around my house. "Nice house you have here, your dad and brothers aren't home?" he asks, now looking at me with his dark brown eyes.
I feel my own narrow. " No....but they'll be back soon. Here, use my cordless". I turn around for a second to grab the phone on the table next to the couch.
It was a second.
Just one. second.
That was all it took.
I feel him approach me from behind and he wraps his arms around me. I try to fight him off. I kick, I scratch, I try to bite but he swerves out of the way.
A white cloth appears over my face. The stench of chlorine fills my nostrils and soon my world goes dark.
Damn it.
