Chapter 26:No One Ever Believes Teenagers......Except Maybe This One Time

Detective Grey and Winters are in my living room, staring me, Hunter and Maddox down with expressions of disbelief and annoyance.

Detective Grey is the one to speak first, "So the three of you are telling me, that Conner Hayes is going to be killed.....because he symbolizes some sort of deity?". She crosses her arms.

Maddox nods. "People have killed for other reasons Mom"he tells her.

She ignores the comments and asks instead, " exactly how did you three figure this out?". We all glance at each other having already decided to absolutely not tell them about my shadow power. 

Maddox works his lip between his teeth before answering. " We....well I mostly....hacked into...your police files" he says slowly.

It's interesting to see how many shades of red Detective Grey can turn....

"Maddox Quinton Grey.....you did what?" she asks in a tone laced with more venom than curiosity. I watch as Maddox tries to sink into the couch. I come to his defense.

"I asked him to do it Detective Grey, I had to see if I was right and I was! You have to go find Conner Hayes! He's in danger!"

My Uncle looks at me patiently, as if I'm a child whose incapable of understanding death. "Huntress there is no deniable proof that this Conner Hayes is even remotely in danger".

I shoot up from the couch. "Will you listen to me? Conner Hayes symbolizes Hades, God of the underworld because he hung out with Tyler and Paul who both symbolized Zeus and Poseidon respectfully. It makes sense that Orion would go after Conner next! He's apart of his various sacrifices so that Orion and I can enter Mount Olympus together".

Detective Grey is rubbing her temples with a her fingertips, a sign that I'm giving her a headache. "Do you know how ridiculous that sounds?" she asks.

I cross my arms. "Ridiculous...but not impossible. It's not our fault a couple of teens figured it out before you and your team did....if you were ever going to figure it out which I doubt you were".

.....And there's the interesting shades of red again....

Before she finally explodes I speak again, "Believe us or not, know that if Conner Hayes is killed sometime later this week it will be your fault, his blood, his death, his parent's tears will stain your hands and hearts through and through...all because you chose to not take advice from teens who were trying to help".

I stare at Detective Grey straight in the eyes. The room is dead silent until it's erupted by a cell phone ringing. I watch as my Uncle takes out his phone and answers it.

"Detective Winters here. You sure? Where? Two?. Be there as soon as I can" he hangs up the phone with a grim look on his face.

He swallows before turning to face Detective Grey. "That was the chief.....Conner Hayes has been found in the parking lot of his work....and Scott Myers has been found at his dad's workplace".

I cross my arms as I watch Detective Grey's eyes harden, still staring at me.
