IT WAS ALMOST a normal day. Except for the fact that it wasn't. For the first time since Camila had opened Espresso Patronum , pin drop silence was heard on a busy monday morning.
The bell above the door chimed as the door opened slowly. Draco Malfoy entered the cafe, a whole year after it had been opened.
He briskly strode to the counter where Camila was working. Camila started saying her usual cheery welcome message. "Welcome to Espresso Patronum! What would you like to have?"
"Pansy told me to try the espresso, I think? Is that what it is called?" Draco asked, unsure of himself.
"Do you want to have it here or take away?"
"Having here. Oh, and can I have the vanilla sponge cake?"
"That will be 1 galleon and 10 sickles," Camila said. Draco gave her the money and went and sat in a corner booth. Camila turned around and gave the order to Jake.
Though she had started to take the next order, she couldn't help but let her mind wander off to the boy with the platinum blond hair.
The morning rush was over, but he was still sitting, deep in thought. As there were no more customers, she took a deep breath and walked to his table.
"Hello Malfoy." She slid into the seat in front of, smiling at him.
"Oh hey. Nice place you've got here." Draco complimented her, she could sense that it was genuine. It was far from the mocking tone he always had when they were in school.
She was beaming as she thanked him. "Is this you're first time having coffee?" she asked curiously.
"Yes. And I feel it's much better than tea," Draco answered. At this point he had finished his coffee and cake. He stood up and said "I have to go, but thank you."
As Camila watched him leave, she couldn't help but compare him to the arrogant boy he was in school. The war had affected everybody. The rude boy was long gone and it seemed like only a broken shell was left.
She had read in the papers about how Lucius Malfoy had been sent to Azkaban. She remembered how Harry Potter had testified for Narcissa and Draco to not be put in Azkaban.
She came out of her trance, remembering all the work she had left. It was none of her business anyways.
Though the day went by, she couldn't help but think about the boy with gray eyes whom she had adored for the longest time.
He had gotten even more gorgeous, if that was even possible. It didn't help her heart from beating too fast when he was around. He probably didn't remember her but that didn't seem to faze her.
The thing which stayed with her the most, was the loneliness she'd seen in his eyes.
