Chelsea
It was like a huge party going on in Emma's room. The family had all congregated in her room, the hallway and nurses station right outside. It was loud and boisterous and happy. The nurses were laughing and smiling right along with the rest of the family. I couldn't see in the window well but I saw Blake he was smiling for the first time in a while. It was good to see that. I knew then that Emma was doing good.
"Matt, Chelsea! It's about time! Where've you been?" Jake asks walking over with one of the nurses.
"We were working. Some of us still have jobs to do." Matt teases him and puts his arm around me. "Hi Grace, did this thug drag you into our party here?"
"I wouldn't say he dragged me. I was actually looking forward to meeting Emma finally. I don't think I'm going to be able to get into the room though. It looks a bit packed." Grace smiles and laughs softly. "Chelsea, you're looking so much better than you were when they brought you in. I'm Grace, I was one of your nurses, I don't know if you remember me."
"I do. Thank you for everything and for all you did for Emma and Blake. Matt told me you've been a big help to Blake. We know he has quite a temper on him, apparently you were pretty good at taming the beast." I teased. I know Blake hates that he has the temper he does and he has such a hard time controlling it.
"He's learning to control it. I've seen worse believe it or not." Grace says. I know my eyes got big when she said that, Jake and Matt both laughed at my expression. "People aren't themselves when they're dealing with the stress of a loved one in danger. It effects them in ways you wouldn't expect. That's why I'm here."
"Well you amazed all of us, darlin." Georgia walked over and hugged Grace. "I can't tell you how much I appreciate what you did for my family. You are an angel, darlin."
"Well, thank you. I'm just doing my job. Speaking of which I need to get back. Please tell Blake and Emma I'm happy they're doing so well. I'll stop by after by shift and check on her." Grace waved and headed down the hall to the elevator. Jake watched her, his eyes never leaving Grace until she disappeared into the elevator and the doors closed.
"Jake, honey wipe your chin. You're drooling." Georgia says patting his back and walking back into the room leaving Matt and I laughing and Jake embarrassed.
Matt took my hand and led me through the maze of people. Everyone hugging us as we worked our way through the doorway to get to Emma. When I finally saw Emma she looked exhausted. I think she was happy to see everyone, but she was wearing out pretty fast. Blake was sitting in the bed next to her, his arm wrapped around her holding her tight. I could see he wasn't going to be leaving her side any time soon.
We made our way over to the bed, Matt moving me in front of him once we got over to Blake. He kept me safe in his arms, so didn't get jostled around too much. Blake looks at me sheepishly, like he's guilty of doing something wrong. He reaches over and pulls me out of Matt's arms and hugs me, kissing my temple like always.
"Jelly Bean, I'm so sorry I didn't get in to see you before you were released. I've been so worried about Emma and I freak out a couple times here. I'm sorry, sweetheart." He apologized and I felt so bad I didn't even think about it.
"Blake, it's okay. Matt's been taking really good care of me. I know you were worried about Emma, so was I. I should have been here sooner, but honestly I've felt so guilty about it all." I tell both him and Emma. "I'm so sorry, I brought Zach into your home, Em. I never should have gone there. If it wasn't for me..."
