I've gotten Tess warmed up, fed and her favorite tea. She's currently in getting a shower while I'm working on our plan of action. I've talked to my attorney this morning already. I've already been informed that it will look better for us to be married to get custody. Tess is thinking about it. There's nothing for me to think about. These are the two women I want in my life, my daughter and her mother. There's nothing to consider.
I start making plans. There's room for us to get in this afternoon at the Justice of the Peace. I've booked the time on his calendar so we don't lose the time slot. I pull out my suit, I only own a couple of nice ones. I don't need them often in my work so I don't usually wear them but I have one ready. Mom always made sure we had a nice suit, just in case of a wedding or funeral she used to tell us. I'm going to call them and tell them beforehand so they have a chance to see me get married.
"Mom hey. I need to tell you something." I can hear people in the background. I know they're at the hospital already. That's good she can tell everyone. "Mom, everything's fine. Tess was at my place this morning. She's fine. Mom." Of course she's worried about Tess. "Mom! We're getting married today!" There that stopped her.
Tess stood in front of me in just a towel and tilted her head hearing me announce the news to my mother. She walked over and stood directly in front of me and raised her eyebrows at me questioning my decision to tell my family when she hasn't exactly agreed yet. Shit! I know that look.
"Gotta go mom. Be at the courthouse at 2 today okay? Love you too." I end the call and look at my slightly irritated girl. "I can explain, sweetheart."
"I'm sure you can, however you don't have to this time. You got lucky. I'm going to agree to marry you but you need to be sure next time I agree before you announce something like this to the family." She says and starts to walk away from me but I grab hold of her hand and bring her back to me.
"Hold up!" I pull her to my chest smiling I wrap my arms around her waist. "You're gonna marry me?"
"Yes, but I'd like to get ready first." Tess says. I grin at her and pick her up, spinning her around and kissing hard on the lips. "Let me go make myself look like a bride."
I nod and let her go. She just made my day. I pull out my phone and get the family phone tree going. I type in the message that I know will move around the family at record speed this morning.
You're invited. Lance and Tess wedding today 2pm courthouse. Be there.
I immediately got responses, all of them I ignore. If they want answers they'll be there. They'll be there anyway, I know my family, they don't let me down. Family is family, we are there for each other no matter what.

Grace finally had to leave for work, I had no choice but to let her get out of bed and get dressed. It was not my first choice. If I had my way we would still be making love in her bed. For the life of me I've never had a woman that I couldn't get enough of like this. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around this idea of her. There's been plenty of girls in and out of my life but none that I really wanted to stick before. Grace just feels right.
I feel a bit like a romantic sucker but I don't care. I'm using Emma as an excuse to go to the hospital. I stop off and buy a bouquet of flowers and tell myself it's just to say thank you to Grace for everything she's done for the family but I know it's bullshit. I'm about to romance the hell out of her. I want Grace to fall for me.
