Chelsea
The three of us stay linked together for an hour more talking with people and working our way through the party. I know Matt well enough to know when he's holding back and it's something he knows I won't like. I don't even want to get started on Blake. He has protected me and treated me like a sister all my life and I know he's not telling us something. He's being very affectionate to Emma and I can tell very overprotective. I really want to think this is because of the baby, but in my gut I feel it's something more. Then there's Lance who won't look at me. What the hell happened today?
As the party starts to wind down and people start to leave we huddle up to get our own plan in motion. If these boys think they can keep something from us, they've got another thing coming. Emma and Tess flank me at the hearth in the family room. We know the boys are busy in the game room playing pool and will be in there for a while longer since they are all so competitive and want to beat the pants off each other.
"I think I know how to get this secret out of them." Emma says as she watches the door. Emma pulls her long blonde hair back out of her face and ties it back. "I need both of you to get the boys up to Blake's old bedroom. Flirt, connive, whatever it takes to get them there. I can get Blake there. Once you have them there guard the door. Those three have never been able to keep shit from me. I can get it out of them."
"So you're gonna do this?" Tess asks with a bit of irritation in her voice. "Why can't we be in there?"
"Look, I need to be sure my dad, older brothers or the others don't try to stop us." Emma whispers as we see her parents just outside the room. "I know they'll keep the secret much better than those three. You have to keep them out, it's harder than it sounds trust me."
"She's right. Tyler and Jake will try to get through first. Then the others, Mr Bradford and Mr. Drake will join in thinking we're fighting. " I remember this happening many times when Emma wanted to know what she was getting for Christmas. We tried something similar with them.
"Fine, but as soon as they tell you, you're to tell us." Tess says holding her glass up to Emma. Emma raises her water and I my wine and we clink our glasses together.
"And what are you toasting?" Lance comes in leading the boys into the room. He goes straight to Tess wrapping his arms around her from behind.
"Emma, of course." She smiles up at him and I notice how easily she lies to him. I can't do that. I don't lie well at all. "The girl has it all now! Her degree, she's marrying the love of her life and she's having a baby. So we're celebrating her."
Matt puts his arm around my waist and kisses my temple. I'm so not good at this stuff. I know he can feel how tense I am because he's rubbing circles on my back. Matt kisses me again then whispers to me. "Chelsea, are you okay? Did something happen sweetheart?"
Well shit! I guess I'm starting this conversation off. I turn to him and slide my hands up Matt's chest. "Can we talk alone upstairs for a minute?"
"Yeah baby, of course." Matt pulls back looking at me. Those beautiful eyes are trying so hard to figure out what happened to me. I can see the concern and love he has for me and I know my eyes are watering up. I pull on his hand to get him away from the group. I look back and I see Tess nod at me. She's going to be right behind us.
Matt follows me up the stairs to Blake's room. Once we are out of earshot of everyone Matt quietly starts questioning me. "Sweetheart what happened? Did you see Zach? Did someone hurt you?"
