Tess

The party last night was wonderful. Vivian made me feel part of her family immediately. I have to say I absolutely love Lance's family. They are the most amazing group of people I've ever met. They don't care about your background, who you are or where you came from. If one of them loves you, then they all do, or they at least give you a chance. It just amazes me that they have accepted me after everything that I've done.

We were out late laughing and talking and enjoying ourselves for the first time in a very long time. Matt and Chelsea skipped the party and left for Arizona.  Matt had gotten word that arizona was very interested in Blake and he didn't want to wait on it. He took Chelsea so she could learn how to do a deal he said but I think there was more to it. Matt was looking around the room like he was waiting for someone to show up. Not to mention he wouldn't take his hands off her. I'm thinking something happened they're not telling us about.

Right now I have too many other things to be thinking about. We are sitting in the attorneys office to find out what we are able to do to get our daughter back for good. He's reading through the statements I made to Georgia and sent over to him. There was a lot of information about my father I hadn't shared with Lance. I'm not sure how well some of this he's going to handle. I told him that there was a lot he didn't know and of course Lance said he'd handle it but he doesn't know half of what I went through in that house.

"Based on your testimony alone Tess we should be able to your daughter removed from the home. Unfortunately that doesn't mean she'll be placed with you." He tells us. That worries me. "They could place her with the state."

"Wouldn't they rather place her with family?" Lance asks before I could.

"Yes but not necessarily with the party that trying for custody. More like a neutral party." He says.

"What about my parents? I know they'd do temporarily. Just until we got custody especially given the circumstances." Lance suggests.

"It's a good option. I'll talk to them about it. It would have to be cleared by the court by I can't see why it wouldn't be done. You're parents are upstanding citizens in the area, no criminal behavior and they are interested parties in the child's safety. They'll make sure she's going to a safe environment and loving home. I think we could do well with it." He reasons.

"Now I think we need to deal with the skeleton in the room Tess." He says looking at me then Lance. "You willingly gave your child to your parents and left her there. They're going to ask you why you felt it was okay then but not now? Was your father not as mentally destructive then? Or physically abusive?"

"He was." I answered knowing I was about to get leveled out by him.

"But you still left a small innocent baby in his care?" He asks knowing I couldn't answer the way he wanted.

"I wasn't given a choice. He was going to kill Lance if I didn't." I explain at last why I did what I did.

"Wait! He told you back then that he would kill me?" Lance asked. I never told him this.

"Yes. He knew you were the father and I told him I wanted to keep the baby. He refused to let me tell you. He said the only way I could keep the baby was if I were to give him the baby and leave. I wasn't to ever come back." I wiped the tears off my face. "I did it because at least she was alive. I thought some day..."

"Tess we'll get back. That's what this is about. Okay so he blackmailed you. Lance you knew nothing?" Our lawyer asked.

"No not until we were in Arizona at Blake's game and she saw them and freaked out that's when I confronted Tess. She told me then about our daughter." I could still hear the pain in his voice. "Do we have enough of a case against the Senator to win this Ashford?"
