(Marauders era) Remus Lupin x depressed reader.

Time seemed to slow down as you awaited your death. But, It didn't happen. You didn't here your neck snap, you didn't feel being choked. It took you a second to realize it, but someone had caught you. You tried to squirm out of their grip until you realized who it was. It was Remus. He had tears in his eyes.

"Remus..." You didn't know what to say. He took the rope off of your neck and set you down on the ground. 

"Why?" he asked. You broke down in tears.

"I j-just couldn't handle it anymore. I-I'm s-sorry." You sobbed. 

"Sorry for what?" Remus brushed a strand of hair out of your face. 

"Sorry for being a horrible person. Sorry for making you get up when you didn't need to. Sorry for being a terrible fri-" Remus cut you off. 

"You're not a horrible person or friend. You're amazing, Y/n. We all care about you. Please, please don't do this again. It would affect people. People would be sad. I would be sad. Please Y/n. Please see that we care about you." 

"Why do you care about me?" 

Remus p.o.v. (btw this is from the point when she left the note.)

I woke up to the sound of birds cawing. I decided that I should go to the library to make sure I knew when the full moon would be. When I opened the door, though, a note fell out. I picked it up and read it. 

Dear Marauders, 

I am truly sorry. I just couldn't handle it anymore. You will find my body in the forbidden forest. Please don't cry for me. I'm not worth your tears.

I reread the note over and over again. I had to stop her. I decided Y/n's life was worth more than some lost Gryffindor points. I ran out of the Castle and towards the forbidden forest. The adrenaline was flowing through me, so I didn't notice how tired I was. All I cared about was saving Y/n. I saw a shape up in a tree in the distance with a rope around her neck. She jumped. Without even thinking I jumped under her and caught her.  My eyes were filled with tears. 

"Remus..." Y/n said. 

"Why?" I asked. She started sobbing. 

"I j-just couldn't handle it anymore. I-I'm s-sorry." She sobbed out. 

"Sorry for what?" I asked and pushed a strand of her beautiful h/l h/c hair out of her face. 

"Sorry for being a horrible person. Sorry for making you get up when you didn't need to. Sorry for being a terrible fri-" I couldn't let her continue to talk shit about herself. I cut her off.

"You're not a horrible person or friend. You're amazing, Y/n. We all care about you. Please, please don't do this again. It would affect people. People would be sad. I would be sad. Please Y/n. Please see that we care about you." I said. 

"Why do you care about me?"

"Because I do. You're amazing Y/n. Your beautiful, talented, smart, sweet. Despite all the scars on you. It's amazing how you're able to cause so much love and happiness in other people. It's sad that you can't find any in yourself, though. You're my best friend." 

"I am?" She looked up at me with a tear stained face. 

"Yes. I'm not lying. You are." Her eyes lit up and for the first time I saw a genuine smile on her face. It made me happy that I could make at least a little happy. "Let's go back before they catch us. We wouldn't want to get in trouble." Y/n simply nodded. 

With that we went to our beds and fell asleep.
