Ivy and Gustav walked into the ice rink and got their skates, Ivy paying. The girl helped Gus onto the ice once he tied his skates. As he got both feet on the ice, the male teenager quickly grabbed the rail before he was able to fall. "If I bust my ass on this ice, you're paying my medical bills," Gustav told Ivy with wide eyes. She just stood there and laughed.

"Okay, whatever you say..." She helped him balance without using her or a rail. "Now, to skate, all you do is push off each time you take a step. Like this."

The black-haired girl demonstrated then circled back to Gus. He just gazed at her. "I can't do that."

"Yes, you can! C'mon... it won't hurt to at least try." Ivy held out her hands--which were practically three shades whiter due to the temperature. The boy looked at her then the kids and adults around them. Gustav took her cold hand, making Ivy smile. He tried to do what she did but slipped and pulled Ivy down on top of him.

She looked at him. "Sorry," Gus apologized with a small shrug.

She just looked down and whispered, "It's okay." When she glanced back up, she looked at Gustav's pale lips. The boy's eyes flickered between Ivy's green eyes and her chapped, chewed up lips. However, the girl got up before the boy could make a move. She helped the pink-and-black-haired teen stand. "Try again, Gustav."

This time, he tried to skate by himself and he was getting the hang of it!

Until he ran into someone...

"Hey! Watch wh- Peep!"

"Christ Bexey! Is that really you?!" Ivy came over due to the yelling.

"Gustav, who's this?" Ivy asked as she looked at the blue-eyed teen.

"Vy, this is Bexey. He was my best friend in 8th grade 'till he moved that summer."

"Dude... Mrs. Robinson's class."

"BRO! She hated us so damn much!" They shared a laugh. "So, Bex, how you been?"

"Good I guess but nothin' like you apparently. You got a girl, Peepers!" Gus looked at Ivy who was looking down. She looked back up at him, her nose red and her cheeks even redder.

"Ivy? Nah, she ain't my girl." He said looking down and mumbling slightly. Not yet anyway... When Gustav looked back up, Ivy wasn't next to him anymore. "Where'd she go?"

Bexey and Gustav stood in the middle of the rink, looking around for the girl like fools. Gustav spotted her leaving the ice and sitting next to their shoes and her backpack. They looked at each other. "I think she's upset, Peep..."

"Why?"

"Maybe she just wanted quality time with you?" The brown-eyed boy shrugged. "Or... maybe she likes you and it was something you said."

Gustav stopped and looked at Bexey's blue eyes. "What?"

"Yeah. I totally see you guys together," he pushed. " I mean, what do you got to lose, man? You got yourself a cute friend and if you don't grab her, someone will."

He looked down at the ice. Maybe Bexey was right. Gustav gave him a nod and they separated, Gus, going to Ivy and Bexey to his friends. He sat next to her and started untying his skates. "If you want to, you can skate a while longer, I just don't wanna break my ankles in these things."

Ivy just shook her head and rested her chin in the palm of her hand. She watched Gustav take off his skates and put back on his pink Converse. "You okay?"

"Yeah..." The boy could tell something was bothering her.

"You can tell me if you wanna..." He provoked. "I'll buy us something to eat and we can talk about whatever you want."

"Thanks but I'm not that hungry... I just... I don't know." Gus looked at the ground then back at her. He got closer and put his arm around her. She stayed in the same position of having her hands folded in her lap, hunched over slightly, and looking at the ground.

"Vy... tell me, please?" She looked at him and blinked a few times before responding.

"Yeah, but could we not do it in here? I'd rather be away from people when I tell you this." He nodded. They walked out as soon as Ivy put her shoes back on and they returned their ice skates.

When they got outside, Gustav pulled out his Juul. She just looked at him. "What? Oh, do you-"

"No, it's fine, just unexpected." He breathed in and let out the smoke. "So, Gus... my dad said we may be moving again."

"What? Why?"

"Because my grades are too perfect... he said that either we were moving to a different state or I'm gonna move to a better or even a private school." Gus breathed out smoke again.

"That's dumb. You've been here for two weeks, how would you be able to tell that?" Ivy just shrugged, hugging herself and looking at the paved parking lot.

"I don't know... all he said was we may move. I really don't want to because then I'd leave you." Gus smiled softly and slipped his arm around her again.

"Hey, it'll be okay. I promise you that even if you do move, I will never forget you because you're my first girlfriend!" She looked up at him. "Friend that's a girl... not..."

"I know," she chuckled. Gustav smiled, looking down at his Converse, then looked back at Ivy. He hesitantly handed her his Juul. She took it and took in a few breaths. Ivy handed the pink-and-black-haired boy's Juul back to him. They stood there for a few seconds, not saying or doing anything until Gus quietly snickered. "What?"

"You wanna know something funny?" She nodded falteringly. "I just farted."

She laughed and moved away from him. "Ew, Gustav!"

"Hey! It's funny 'cause you're laughing!" She pulled the collar of her shirt over her nose. "I don't know what's more toxic to the environment: my farts or Juul chemicals."

Ivy laughed harder but still held her shirt over her nose. "You're disgusting."

"But you love me so I can't complain..." Gus commented. They both smiled while looking at each other.
