Gus walked into English and sat at his lonely corner table. He sighed and rested his head on his arm. The teen missed his only friend.
Why do I have to be an asshole? He groaned quietly and looked around at people talking to their friends. Gustav sighed. I wanna cry but I don't want people worrying about me since I'm not their problem...
He tried to ignore what had happened that morning by watching Netflix, listening to music while reading, and playing random games on his computer. Gus checked the time--which was next to the date--and rolled his eyes. His mother and friends would most likely try to throw a party for Gustav's 17th birthday in two Sundays.
The boy hated parties but he would go along with it since he loved his mom but they made him want to OD on anything he could get his hands on. Maybe his mom could make pot brownies...

The bell rang and the pink-and-black-haired 10th grader walked down to the cafeteria, bag on his shoulder, phone in hand. He walked into the cafeteria and saw his mother standing at the door with a box of pizza, a bag of cookies, and a bottle of... TEQUILA!
Kidding. She really had a bottle of Gold Peak Tea.
The mother and son locked eyes, both smiling and walking to the empty table Gus sat at every day. Liza sat the food down in front of the teen. "Share the pizza, not the cookies." She kissed his head.
"Why?"
"Grandmama gave me those for you and you alone." Gus laughed. "Let me see how bad your phone is."
He handed it to her and opened the Ziploc bag with three chocolate chip cookies. Gustav took a giant bite of one, moaning at the taste. "Grandmama's cookies are so damn perfect," he mumbled and shoved the rest of the cookie into his mouth. His mother handed him his phone back. "So?"
"You can get a new phone. That one's been through hell and back." The soon-to-be-17-year-old boy pumped his fists in the air as he held the second cookie in his mouth. He took the baked dessert out of his mouth.
"Can I get an iPhone XR?"
"We'll talk about it later. I have to work late tonight." Gus nodded. "Love you."
"Love you too, mama." Liza kissed her son's cheek and walked off. Gus ate his cookie and looked up, seeing his mom talking to Tracy. Gustav just ignored it and ate his lunch which consisted of 3 cookies, 3/4 of a meat lovers pizza, and half the bottle of tea. He threw the two leftover pieces of pizza into the empty Ziploc when he was finished.
He was happy no one had asked for food because he hadn't eaten anything since Andrew got him Chick-fil-A yesterday.
"Ooo... now I want weed," he whispered with a small smile. "Nah, I'll just ask for brownies at the party."
