Alex looks over at Ruby in her crouched position, copying her stance. "You ready, kid?"

She shakes her head. "No way."

"This is gonna be the most important race of your life, are you ready?"

"Ma, you're so much faster than me, there's no way!"

"Three-"

"Momma, don't you dare," Ruby warns.

"Two-"

"Oh, my God, help me," she mutters.

"One. Go!" Both of them go running for the soccer ball that was in the middle of the yard. Alex pulls ahead and reaches the ball first. She kicks it and sends it flying into the goal, cheering at her own victory.

"That's so not fair!" Ruby whines when she catches up. "You're director of the DEO you're supposed to be fast."

"Well, that's why I'm the soccer mom and helping you train while Mom is inside making healthy snacks halftime." Alex goes and retrieves the ball and jogs back, placing the ball in its original spot. "C'mon, kid," she says with a ruffle to Ruby's hair, making her grin. "It's all about keeping pace with yourself. Push ahead when you need that final sprint."

"Got it." They go back into their crouching stances, eyes on the ball.

"Three... two one go!" Alex runs off at full sprint, leaving Ruby in the dust.

"Cheater!" she calls as she runs after her.

"Only cheating if you get caught!"

Sam looks up at the yells from the kitchen and shakes her head with a smile. "Are you guys on your way?" she asks over the phone, which was on speaker and on the counter as she prepped orange slices, carrots, and water for the girls.

"Lena got, um... distracted," Kara says, a little embarrassed over the phone and muffled.

She rolls her eyes and sighs as she finishes cutting the carrots and putting them in a platter. "Honestly, gays, come on."

"It's not my fault Kara's totally toned!" Lena yells over the phone in the background.

"It's not my fault that you're a useless lesbian!" Kara yells back. Then, a 'poofmp' from God knows what. "Ow!"

"I swear to God, both of you are useless lesbians," Sam mutters. "Lena, stop drooling over Kara's abs, don't hit her with whatever you did-"

"It was just a fucking pillow, you soft Kryptonian!"

"-and Kara, don't call your girlfriend a useless lesbian, only the sister, in-laws, and outer family can do that."

"Yes, Momma Sam,"  they both groaned in unison, making Sam roll her eyes as she wrapped the container with plastic wrap.

"Good. Now, I expect both of you to be at the field in ten minutes when Ruby, Alex, and I get there, or there won't be scotch or potstickers tonight."

"Be there soon!" Lena says.

"Be there in five! Love you!" Kara hurridly says before hanging up.

Sam grins to herself. "Works every time." She puts the snacks and beverages into the cooler and walks out on the porch outside. "Guys! Time to go!" she yells out to the preparing daughter and helping wife.

"Last one, Mom!" Ruby says.

"Go!" Alex yells, running off with her. This time, Ruby gets ahead and swiftly kicks the ball into the net, whooping with Alex.
