Lena sighs as she unlocks the front door, running a hand through her hair and letting it down as she walks through her apartment, smiling small at her friends at the couch and kitchen island. "Hey."
Kelly waves as she makes some small snacks. "Hi."
"What's happened?" she asks, taking off her heels and setting down her purse.
"Nothing major, yet," Alex reports from the couch next to her sister. Across from them are Brainy and Nia, holding each other's hands. "There's just a protesting crowd in DC."
"Good or bad protest?"
The redhead shrugs as she goes to get another round of drinks. "Good with minimal bad, no damage done. We'll only go down there if necessary." Lena nods as she takes note of Kara's silence, going quickly into their room to change into something more comfortable (ie. her stolen-slash-shared Nike hoodie and yoga pants) before she sits down next to her girlfriend.
"Hi, Kar," she whispers as she leans over on her shoulder, her blue eyes looking up at her. They were tired and upset, mad even, but just the slightest. She was concerned and worried about what was going to happen to them, all of them.
"Hey," she mutters back. She could tell she was anxiety ridden. She was quiet, her eyes were dull and her hand was around her necklace that her mother gave her from Krypton while her foot was moving up and down in what would be a jumping measure if it were flat on the floor.
Lena kisses her forehead and strokes her hair back to try and relax her. "How are you feeling?"
She feels her shrug under her as she curls up and lays her head on her lap, still in the direction of the tv, slightly calming down. "Scared." The tensity of her shoulders relaxed under the touch through her hair and across her arm.
"Yeah, I think we all are." The brunette looks down at her with a small smile. "We'll figure it out, one way or another. They can't keep us all down."
"Not in a million years." Alex comes back with drinks and Kelly with small snacks on a platter. "We'll fight like we always do."
When Lena saw the blonde in her lap not paying attention to her sister's words, she tapped her arm to make her look up at her. "We'll be okay," she whispers. "I promise."
Kara nods slightly, curling up further in her lap as they all watched the tv for the further news and updates and footage, watching the protests in silence. The room was filled with anxiety, and no one felt safe or like things would go right.
The world was a nightmare.
just a little drabble about the Supreme Court case that happened today. I was filled with dread and anxiety all day and I still am, so I just had to get it out. Hope this goes good.
I know that some of us are scared, but we're gonna be okay. We'll fight and fight and things will go right. I promise.
