Doing a little sWERVE and writing an Arrow piece of Dinah x Felicity with some Arrow characters that were once dead but this is fan fiction we can bring anyone back. This one's for Em because she's the best and she deserves it all and I love you, Em and I hope you love this
Dinah knocked on the door of the cottage, looking down at her feet that she could barely see in the dark, crowded forest around her. "Felicity? It's me. Can I come in?"
"You have a key, retinal scan, and thumbprint for the door, Dinah," Felicity's choked voice came through the door. "You can come in whenever."
"I just wanted your permission."
She heard her sigh and a clink of a glass. "Yeah, yeah." The captain scanned her eye, thumbprint and the screen lit up green so after jamming in the key, she came in the house. The blonde was sitting cross-legged on top of the counter, a pint of ice cream in one hand and a spoon in the other as a bottle of rum sat next to her.
"Felicity—"
"Don't, Dinah," she mutters, taking a scoop of ice cream that dropped a dark, milky substance back into the carton, which the Canary guessed was more rum.
Dinah sighs and shakes her head, looking down as she braced herself on the counter, hands on either side of the woman on top. "Would he want you doing this?"
"He's gone, Dinah," she whispers harshly to her, making her look up and seeing her eyes clouded with tears. "And there is nothing we can do to bring him or Barry back."
"We have to keep trying—"
"No, Dinah," Felicity said coldly, shutting her down. "The Monitor came to this house five months ago and said he saw his death and it was inevitable. People saw him die, members of our team, you think they'd lie if they saw something like that?"
"Felicity, I don't want this to hurt anymore than it's hurting you," Dinah whispers. "Your daughter included."
"She's not even one," the tech genius says back at the same level. "She doesn't know what's going on."
"I just don't want you setting a bad example for your kid. I know it's going to take a while," she says, going to her hands slowly to have her put down the spoon and carton, "and who knows, it may never fully heal. But we're going to get through it," she says, looking back up into her eyes when the ice cream and alcohol were far away from her on the other side of the counter. "And that means doing it together. We don't leave each other behind. Understand?"
Felicity bites her lip as she nods and whispers, "Okay."
"C'mere." Dinah lifts her easily off the counter and over to the living room, placing her down on the couch, getting a blanket to fluff over her before she sits down on the couch next to her, putting her arm around her as she curls up, putting her head in her lap. Dinah sighs quietly and strokes her hair, lightly threading her fingers through her blonde locks, relaxing with her and letting silence consume them and only the occasional crack of the fireplace.
"How did you get over Vincent?" Felicity murmurs, almost making her stop her actions as she thought that over for a few moments.
"Honestly? Being around you guys, kickin' ass. Doing what we love. You love your daughter, so just be there for her and look out for her, be there for what Oliver can't, okay?" she asks, looking down at her even though she couldn't see her.
Felicity nods in her lap. "Yeah." The two stay like that, mulling over their thoughts, staying in the moment with each other, together. 'Cause that's what family does.
