When the earth begins to break
And I fall through

Alex couldn't move as she sits on the couch, legs tucked up to her chest as she aimlessly stares out at nothing. The slightly depressing album that's been playing on repeat has gone deaf on her ears; the beer in her hand has gone warm and she feels slightly warm in her big, soft, NASA hoodie, but that doesn't matter right now to her.

All that can go through her mind is anything and everything... yet nothing at the same time. It feels like her mind is racing but there's really nothing there. It's an emptiness that she doesn't know how to get rid of, even if she already had the solution, yet it wasn't working. Nothing was at the moment.

Even though she had her methods, good and bad, she felt paralyzed. She couldn't do anything, didn't want to, even though she should. The events from her day are fuzzy, and she can't remember what paperwork she had to do, but even so, she couldn't bring herself to do it.

And the deaths take my sight
And I cannot find my way

She doesn't hear the door opening, nor the call for her name. She comes back to life when she feels a soft hand on her shoulder and she looks down at it, then up at the face that always brought her a smile, even if it was a small and strained one.

"Hi," she whispered.

Kelly smiles gently back at her as she keeps the contact with her around the couch, sitting down next to her, kissing her cheek softly. "Hey. You were spaced out." Alex sighs and closes her eyes when her hand goes to her scalp, lightly scratching there as her fingers go through her hair, leaning into her touch. "Are you alright?"

Alex hums noncommittally. "Long day." Her answer may have been a white lie since she couldn't remember exactly what really happened, but she didn't know how else to answer to her therapist-girlfriend.

"Yeah, me too," Kelly whispers. "Wanna talk about it?"

She shakes her head, finally opening her eyes to look at her. "Can we just lay here? Watch something?"

Kelly nods and kisses her forehead, taking the bottle from her hand as she gets up. "Let me change. You pick."

When I'm buried underneath

When Kelly comes back with two bottles of water and changed into her own sweatpants and hoodie, she sees Alex wrapped in a blanket, the lights dimmer as she was curled up on the couch, the starting credits of the movie lightning up her face.

"What'd you pick, cutie?" she asked, moving her head so she can sit down and place her head in her lap.

"That Spider-Man movie you liked so much," Alex mumbled, wrapping the blanket tighter around herself and humming when Kelly ran her fingers through her hair.

The brunette chuckled. "I think you liked it a lot, babe."

"You were entertained by it." She chuckled again and Alex smiled small, rolling her head over a bit to look up at her as the beginning credits ended.

Oh, I look to you

When Kelly felt the change in position and the gaze, she looked down and grinned. "Hi."

"I love you," Alex said out of pure adoration. They've said it before, but she just felt so damn lucky to have someone who was patient and understanding and just so so loving and compassionate.

Oh, hold on to you

Kelly smiles lovingly at her. "I love you, too." She continued to stroke her hair, threading her fingers through the softness, sighing silently in content when her girlfriend wrapped her arms around her legs.
