Chapter 4

The next day, Jonah arrived at work early as he always does. Upon opening and starting up for the day with his workers, he proceeded to his office. Latifah's resume still on the table, Jonah took a deep breath then proceeded to contact her. At once she answered the phone as if she knew he would call at that very moment in time. She was told to come in for an interview today at ten, dress appropriately and come with any documents she may have that might make her a valuable asset in the company.

At 9:45am strolling through the front door was Latifah dressed appropriately but still sexy as she had the body for it. Jonah more cautious this time approached her in a more professional manner and instead of doing the interview at his office, he did it on an end table in the restaurant. Upon reviewing latifah's documents she still wasn't fully qualified but because of her experience in bartending, being a former part time waitress to pay for school and Kate's suggestion, she was hired on the spot.

Jonah called one of his most trustworthy employee to escort Latifah to the fitting room in the back. There she would have her sized uniform and shoes handed to her while Jonah had time to gather the necessary work contract for Latifah to sign. Latifah upon getting her uniform, was asked to come into Jonah's office where she would now sign her contract, read code of conduct and ask any questions she may have concerning the business.

After the formalities were established and Latifah left, Kate entered the restaurant. Jonah informed her about the recruitment of Latifah and her first day would be tomorrow. Kate was pleased, she now had Latifah right where she wanted. Jonah and Kate then left the restaurant on lunch.
Kate was a bit happier today but Jonah didn't question it since he was just glad to have his girlfriend back.

They ate barbecue chicken and fries at this new restaurant they have been meaning to try but never got the time. Jonah after lunch, drove Kate back to QG magazine's office where she had another photoshoot scheduled. Jonah had the rest of the day to himself, he could either go back to the workplace or do something else with his free time. He decided to get some rest at home.

On arrival to his home, Jonah decided to take a nice cool shower. The heat outside was a little intense at this hour so a bath would help him fall asleep faster, with the air condition on of course. Ten minutes of lying on his bed, only his batman underwear on, Jonah fell asleep. By the time he had woken up it had already been nightfall, 9pm to be exact. No missed calls, no messages, nothing from Kate.

Jonah had a bad feeling about this. This isn't the first time Kate had put him through this. Jonah messaged Kate on all social media platforms and even called a dozen times but no response. He even called the magazine's office this time but she had left since six. Jonah made a trip to Kate's parents home but no red convertable. Jonah started to get worried about Kate.

He also had this feeling that Kate was having an affair. If she didn't the first time then he's sure about this time. But where could she be. It was too far from fall, so she didn't have any flights. Jonah decided to take a cruise around town, search for her red convertable. It's unique so it shouldn't be hard to miss. Half hour passed, forty five minutes passed, still no convertable.

He called again. It rang once then hung up. He tried one more time, this time no ring. Suddenly a text message comes in. Kate's phone number showed. The message read,

'sorry I didn't call or text, I know u must b worried but please don't. I'm ok, in a meeting with a client since 7. Gona have a LONG night. Call you in the morning. xoxo.'

Jonah found it funny that she met with a client outside of work but he played it out in his head that maybe he had been overacting. Jonah finally arrived at home once again. The nagging voice in his head assured him that Kate was cheating on him. She did this before too, her ex Damion, the guy at the bar in town, the young uber driver and the plumber, oh and don't forget the seven strippers that was captured on tape running a train on her last December at her friend's bachelor party.

Jonah always had to look past the bad and see the good in people even if it wasn't there. They went through alot during their ten years together but every time Kate would fuck up, Jonah would take her back as if she never did anything in the first place. Jonah wished to someday get married but Kate was more of a free spirit. She believes in going with the flow of life, living ing the moment and naturalization of everything, especially hair.

Now because she was a model, she had to shave her legs before every shoot. They wanted sexy not Bigfoot. Jonah so tired from all that driving around town and worrying, he just wanted to relax and watch some Netflix while he simmered down to sleep. Jonah dozed off only for a minute before he had to jump up. His phone rang, an unknown number. As he answered a strange sound could be heard blaring from the speaker.

The sound of a bed knocking the walls, skin slapping together and the moaning and groaning of both male and female were the ambience. Why was someone calling while having sex? Jonah continued to listen as he was curious. He heard every dirty word and sound made by man in that phonecall then suddenly the phone hung up. It was really strange for something like that to happen on a night Kate wasn't home but Jonah was too blind to notice.
