LOGAN'S REVENGE

CHAPTER 14

       “ You made a promise to me a few years ago Logan. You promised to look out for your sister. If anything happens to her, I'll never forgive you. ” Lucas said in an icy tone.
          “ Please Dad. Don't say things like that. I haven't exactly been playing around now, have I? And Marie isn't a child anymore. She can make her own decisions. ”
          “ When it comes to her safety and well being, she can't make her own decisions. I don't need to remind you of the accident or do I ?”
          Lucas knew that would get his son thinking. A few years ago, they had let their guard down and Marie had done something stupid. She had complained of them being overprotective and she had somehow slipped past her bodyguards. She had gone to a party with a few friends from school.
           A fight had happened afterwards at the party and she had been pushed against the wall. Something sharp had pierced her neck and she had lost a lot of blood before the paramedics had arrived. After she regained consciousness, she had cried her eyes out because the injury had given her a scar on her neck.
          When she returned to the estate, she withdrew from everyone and locked herself on her room. Her father had sent her to Bluesky to heal and that's how she had enrolled in Fashion school and started her own clothing line.
         Lucas and Logan had made sure she was safe. They had hired bodyguards to watch her and keep her safe. Hearing that she was in danger again brought back the fear Lucas experienced those years ago when he had thought he would lose his daughter. He couldn't let anything happen to her.

         “You don't need to remind me Dad. I'll head back to town and recruit new guards for her. I just hope she agrees with them following her around. ”
          “You will do no such thing Logan. I want my daughter back here where I can ensure her safety. ”
          Logan grit his jaw and ran a hand through his hair.
          “ Dad it's time you see that Marie isn't a child. She's an adult capable of making her own decisions. She has a business to run and  a life to live. Haven't we done enough watching and protecting? You know her feelings about being kept under lock and key. ”
         “ Your sister's safety is not up for discussion. I'm sending you to bring her here because I know you can talk her into it. If you don't comply, I'll send someone else to do it. ”
         His dad walked up the stairs but paused halfway. He turned back and said to Logan.
        “You are to bring your sister here today Logan. I want her here for supper and we have a lot to tell her. Inform Katherine of her arrival and tell her to prepare herself. I'm going to take a nap.”
        
         Logan couldn't believe his ears. How in the world was he going to tell Marie that she had a sister? And there was also the question of who wanted to kill her? He was still brooding on the matter when he stepped into his bedroom. Katherine was there waiting for him.
           She had changed out of her bikini and was dressed in a flower imprinted blouse and jeans. She had also tied her hair into a ponytail. It fell to her waist. He sat beside her on his bed.

          “ I heard everything Lucas said. He doesn't wish Marie any harm. He's just scared. ”
           “ I understand my father's fears Kat but Marie can be as stubborn as a mule. You'll see for yourself when she arrives. ”
         His sister went pale.
       “ What Is it Kat? Are you alright? ”
      “I'm fine. I'm just scared. I don't know how Marie will react when she sees me. Do you think she'll understand everything when we tell her the truth. ”
         He lifted her chin and held her shoulders.
        “ Marie is a smart woman. She might be distant at first but with time, she'll understand everything. We just need to be patient. ”  Logan explained.
        “ I heard Lucas say something about an accident? What's wrong with her? ”
       He told her about Marie's scar.
      “ You can ask her more questions when you meet her. She can be a handful so you'll need to take things steady with her. ”
        “ That's fine Logan. What about your friend that came earlier today? ”
    He had forgotten about Adams. He didn't want to scare her and he also didn't want to hide the truth.
     “ Don't worry about Adams. I'll explain everything to him. He's the only person outside the family that knows about Marlow. He's harmless. ”
       “ He must be really important for you to tell him about Marlow. ”
        “ I didn't tell him. He found out by accident. I used to share an apartment with him and his son when I was in college. He heard me crying when I was having a nightmare. It got him concerned for my health and I had to tell him the truth. ”

            He left her on the bed and stepped into his walk in closet. Hr changed into a pair of Khaki shorts and a blue T-shirt. He came back into the room to brush His hair and wear Cologne.
        “ You said he has a son. Is he married? ”
          “ He was married but lost his wife in a car crash. The brakes of his car were tampered with. It had been a trap for Adams but his wife had taken the car to pick up their son from  school. He joined the police to get justice but he hasn't been able to find the culprit. ”

         “ Wow. That's an awful story. I pray he catches whoever did it. ” She adjusted his collar properly. “ You've grown into a very handsome man Logan. I'm proud of you. ”
       He hugged her and left the room. He left his sports  car and opted for his Jeep. As he drove out, he said a silent prayer to God to make things right.
