LOGAN'S REVENGE

CHAPTER 26

           Angela met them at the door and greeted Adams and Logan. When she saw Katherine, time took a break and the minutes slowed. They ran into each other's arms. Memories flashed through their minds. Kat remembered how she used to protect Angela from bullies at school. They had had good times together.

       “ I couldn't believe it when Robert told me what my father  had put your family through. I'm so sorry. ” She said amidst sobs.

       “ It's alright Angie. You have no fault in any of this. I can't tell you how much it means to me that you didn't forget me. And I'm sorry that we turned you against your father. I really am. ”
They broke from the hug.

       “ Don't be silly Kat. I'd never forget the person that always stood up for me against everyone. I've always known my father does horrible stuff but I never thought he'd do it to the people we considered as family. I went to the funeral. It was horrible. ”  They were gathered in the living room.

        “ There was a funeral? Who organised it? We don't have any living family members. ”

        “ My dad organized the funeral. I'm sorry Logan but there were no bodies. The fire destroyed everything. The entire town was in attendance to pay their respects. I feel so guilty about all this. ”

       Logan slumped into the sofa and buried his face in his hands. His eyes were heavy with tears but he dare not show weakness now. Marlow was the son of a devil. Talk about a cold hearted soul. What kind of man wiped out an entire family and organized the funeral ? And to think he had such a beautiful daughter like Angela. He walked up to Angela and held her hand in his. He lifted her chin and held her gaze.

       “ You don't need to feel guilty about anything. Your dad caused this and not you. I feel guilty that I have to be the one to ruin him but I have no other choice. Your father has done a lot of harm. I'm sorry. ” He wiped a tear away from her eyes.

       “ I understand and you have my support but I ask that you give me a chance to talk to my dad. One more chance for him to give himself up. Please. ”

      “ Men like your father don't give themselves up. They fight to the death. But fine, I'll give you time to talk to him. It's the least I can do for you and Andre. ” He said and embraced her.

     “ You shouldn't hold her so close. We don't want Robert thinking you came to steal his future bride away. ” Adams said and they laughed, releasing some of the tension in the room.

     “ That's much better. I prefer smiles to tears. I know it's a bit late but it smells so nice in here and I'm starving. ”

      “ I'm sorry. How rude of me. I hope you guys are hungry cause I cooked. I also baked some of your favorite pastries Kat, just like the ones my mom used to bring to your house for Christmas. ” She took Katherine's hand and led them to the dinning room where she had set up the table. She served as soon as they were seated.

       “ It tastes delicious. I'm so proud of you. I'm sure your mom is too. These pastries taste better than your mom's. No offence. ” Angela blushed and continued serving.

      Katherine took a bite from her fish and moaned. It tasted even better than she remembered. Dinner was a very chatty affair.

         After the table was cleared, Katherine could feel Adam's gaze on her. Their eyes met but he looked the other way and joined in on the conversation with Logan and Robert. She was sure he was trying to make a move on her. He had invaded her thoughts and she couldn't deny the attraction between them. He was handsome and good looking and her brother never tired of singing his praises.

     Speaking of her brother, she was also thinking of telling Logan that she'd love to move back here. Yes, there were bad memories here but this was her home. She didn't belong in Blairtown. Her life was here. Her thoughts were interrupted when Angela announced that it was bedtime.

       “ There are only three rooms in the house so you and I are gonna be sharing mine. We've got a lot to talk about. Robert will sleep in Andre's room. Logan and Adams can share the guest bedroom. Andre's at a friend's house so let's get comfortable. ”

    “ Thanks for everything. I couldn't thank you enough for your help and support. ”

     “ My sister's right. We appreciate the help. If you weren't engaged to Robert, I'd whisk you away to be my chef but Mrs Pritchard is also a fine Cook. ” Angela blushed at Logan's comment.

     They said their good nights to each other and retired to their rooms. Tomorrow would come soon and their plans for Marlow would begin.
