LOGAN'S REVENGE

CHAPTER 13

           Richard moved closer to them and spoke directly to Logan.
         “ I'm sorry to interrupt but there's someone here to see you. Your father is in his study and I think it's urgent. ”
          Logan stared at Richard in surprise. He rarely had visitors on the estate.
        “ Who is it?” He asked.
         “ I don't know Logan. Your father sent for you and he sounded worried. I think it's important. ”
          Logan kissed  his sister on the forehead.
         “ We can continue our discussion later. Eat lunch without me. ”
        They left Katherine by the pool and they went to the study. He saw a man sitting across his father on the couch settee. He moved quickly to where they sat and the visitor was Adams. Adams stood up and both men hugged.

         “ What a pleasant surprise. It's so good to see you Adams. I'm sorry I haven't come visit. How's Alexander? ”
           “Likewise Logan. It's good to see you again. I've been busy that's why I haven't come to see you so we can catch up on old times. Alex is fine. He's busy with high school. ”

       They sat down and Logan cast a side glance at his dad but his expression was unreadable.
Adams had been his senior in College and they had a very good friendship. Logan had helped Adams watch over his son, Alex, while he had been studying to join the police.
      Being a single parent washy easy but Adams had come through after the death of his wife. They hadn't seen much of each other after they had parted ways after College. Adams became the head of the police department in Blairtown and Logan took over his father's businesses. He hadn't thought to check up on Adams after he moved back to town which was unfair on his part since they were good friends.

           “ What brings you to the estate? You haven't been here in a while. ”
        “ I'm sorry to impose on you but I've been trying to reach you but you haven't been answering my calls or replying my messages. I traced your phone and it led me here. ”
       “ Sorry about that. I've been busy that's why I haven't had the time to check my phone. Is something wrong? ”
       “ Yes Logan. It has to do with your sister. ” He explained.
       “ What's wrong with my daughter? Is she in some kind of trouble? ” Lucas asked.
        “ I'm not sure Sir. That's why I'm here. Two days ago, we got a call from someone saying that a call had been vandalized. When we got to the crime scene, the car belonged to your daughter. Thankfully, she wasn't hurt but  there was a weird note on her car. ”
       Richard who had been standing at a corner suddenly spoke up.
        “ Are you sure she wasn't hurt? Have you caught the idiots that committed the crime? What note are you talking about? ”
All eyes in the room fell on him. He hoped he hadn't given anything away but he had to know if Marie was okay. He would die if anything happened to her.
        “ Like I said earlier Richard, she wasn't hurt and I've assigned officers to watch her. This is a photocopy of the note. I couldn't bring the original because it's being held as evidence. I'm worried about her. From the way she answered my questions, I could tell that it wasn't the first time she had been threatened. ” He gave the note to Mr Lucas.

        Logan read the note and he couldn't believe it. Someone had the nerve to threaten the life of his sister. He had been so busy with Katherine that he hadn't bothered to check in on Marie. Why hadn't Mrs Pritchard or Madison called him. He passed the note back to Adams.
       “ Thank you for the information Adams. We appreciate it. ”
         “ It was no trouble Logan. I would do the same if she was  my little sister. I'll take my leave now. It was a pleasure seeing you again Mr Lucas. The same goes to you Richard. Maybe the three of us can watch a game and drink some beers when you come to town. ”
         “ You can count on it Adams. Say hi to Alex for me. " Richard said.
        “ I'll walk you to the door. ”
    Adams and Logan left the study. They were walking down the hallway when they bumped into Katherine on her way to the kitchen. She ran up the stairs when she saw Adams.
        “ Did I just see Marie? How the hell did she get past my guards? If she's here, how come she didn't tell you about what happened? ”

        Logan had forgotten to tell Katherine to keep out of sight. She wasn't keen on meeting people. Even her doctors came from Bluesky for her checkups. He dragged Adams by the arm and pulled him towards the front door. He released his friend as soon as they were outside the house. He couldn't lie to Adams. He was the only one outside the family that knew about Marlow.

        “ I deserve an explanation Logan. What's going on? ”
         “Calm down. She's not Marie. She's my other sister, Katherine. ”
        “You told me years ago that she died. Did she resurrect? What's she doing here? I'm confused.”
       “ I'll explain later. I promise to swing by your house when I'm in town. ”
        “ OK Logan. I'll be expecting you and if you don't show up, I'll come for you. Goodbye buddy. Stay safe.” Adams patted him on his back and drove away in his police truck.
         Logan stared upwards at the sky and ran his hand through his hair. His day couldn't get any worse. His dad was probably waiting in the study to unleash his anger and he also had to deal with Katherine. He looked up at her window and saw her staring at him. He entered the house and when he closed the door, he came face to face with  his dad. The look on his dad's face told him that their next conversation wasn't gonna end well.
