LOGAN'S REVENGE

CHAPTER 23

         Lucas locked the study door and faced his daughter. Her eyes were swollen and why was she dripping wet?. That's when it hit him. She had been at the lake the entire time. It had always been her favorite place to go to since childhood. Why hadn't he thought to search there.

              It didn't matter anymore. His daughter was here and she was safe. He reached for her and she ran into his arms and hugged him tightly.

        “ I'm sorry Dad. I'm so sorry. I don't care what they say about you not being my dad. You're the only father I have for now and always. The past doesn't matter. I love you. ”

         He placed a kiss on her forehead and held on to her as she sobbed. He couldn't express how happy he was that she had said those words to him.

         “ Thank you for accepting and understanding. I couldn't bare the thought that I had come so close to losing you. I love you so much, my sunshine. ”

        “ You're never going to lose me. Only God knows what would have happened to Logan and I if you hadn't been there that night. I don't remember my real parents but I know you and you're here and you love me. That's all that's important to me.”

       She wiped his tears and kissed him on the cheeks. She and her brother were forever in his debt.

        “ I'm sorry about everything but we did it to protect you. But you have to accept your sister. At least try to. But we'll wait until you're ready, she can wait. We'll take it step by step. ”

      “ I'm ready to accept her dad. Remember when I was little and I always wished to have a sister ? This is my wish come true. We're both scared but we can try. We'll take it step by step like you say. I would really love to meet her. ”

        “ My little girl has grown up. You've just shown me how mature you are. You're about to take a bold step towards your future. I'm so proud of you my sunshine. ”

    They laughed and hugged.

     “ I should have told the guards to check the lake. It's your Fav place on the estate. ”

         “ They passed by the lake but I hid in the old treehouse. They didn't bother to look there. You should fix the treehouse. It's falling apart. ”

      “ I'll call the builders tomorrow and they'll fix it up for you. Are you ready to meet your sister? ”

        “ I'm ready. I'm ready to face the world as long as you're with me. I love you Dad. ”

       They left the study and joined the rest of the family in the living room. All eyes were on them as soon as they walked in. She left his side and stood in the center of the room.

       “ I'm really sorry that I got you worried but I'm sure you understand that this is a big blow for me. I forgive everyone cause you all acted with my best interests at heart. ”
      She walked up to Katherine and held her hands. She smiled at her.

    “ I'm sorry for yelling at you. I didn't mean to and I take back everything I said. I've always wanted a sister and I'm happy that you're mine. I'm willing to give us a chance. ”

      Katherine was speechless. She had waited so long for this moment and here it was, happening, and she didn't even know the right words to say. She pulled Marie into her arms and held her tight. It felt so good to hug her.

     “ You have no idea how much I wanted to hear you say that. I feared the worst. That you'd never accept me. I'm willing to give us a chance too. I love you. ”

        She broke the hug and faced her brother and Richard. They looked at their shoes instead of facing her. They were shocked when she hugged them.

    “ I forgive both of you. But it comes at a price. ” She gave them her sweetest smile.

     “ We're done for Logan. When she smiles like that, she'll ask for the impossible. ” Richard said playfully.

      “ You know me so well my love. I want an exclusive shopping spree for all the kids at the NGO. The teachers included. I want a shopping spree for Myself, Maddie and Katherine. ”

    “ You're so right my friend. We so have to shop that new shoe store on Eve street. We need new shoes. We're definitely going there. ”  Maddie chipped in and they laughed.

      “ What do you think, Richard?  Think your account can handle a little shake up? ”

       “ Of course Logan. Anything for my queen. Her happiness is all that matters. ” He said and kissed her. Their father's coughed and they let go of each other.

      “ I think I could get used to all of this. You're all doing what I want without questions. I really feel like a princess now. ”

      She hugged Mary and Henshaw.

      “ I didn't  forget about both of you. You have to get me something too. ”

      “ We'll do anything for you my child. Just ask and it's yours. ” said Mary.

      “ I want to throw a big party. A really big one. We'll have the kids from the NGO come over. The labourers and our neighbours get an invite too. Mary, make the biggest buffet you can. Henshaw will have to get a big chocolate fountain. ”

      “ What's with the chocolate fountain? ” her father asked.

     “ This party is gonna be different. The kids and I will make sure everything is planned to the detail. They'll be games, tricks and whatever fun thing you can think. It'll be like the circus. ”

       “ You know we can't refuse you anything. Your wish is our command. Get changed out of your wet clothes and let's eat dinner. It'll be our first dinner as a family. ” Lucas said and kissed her forehead.

    She left the room with Katherine and Maddie while Mary went to serve dinner. Lucas took a deep breathe and was glad that things were falling into place.
