LOGAN'S REVENGE

CHAPTER 25

     “ Wipe that cocky grin off your face and tell me what you wanna discuss. Hope it's nothing serious? ” Logan sat on one of the kitchen chairs and looked his friend in the face.

        “ It's a bit serious. Are you sure it's a good idea for Katherine to come with us? You know she's still recovering. ” Adams took a long swig from his beer. He was nervous about meeting Katherine again.

        “ She's been cleared by her doctor and the therapist says it'll do us good to confront our past. Why do I get the feeling that you're driving at something else.”
       Adams began to pace the kitchen.

       “ You're like a brother to me and I care about you. The thing is that I can't get your sister out of my mind. She's the only thing I can think about these days. Even Alex has noticed the changed. ”

      Logan burst into laughter. The sound rang through the kitchen.

     “ I've never seen you this worried about a woman before. Ever since Bethany died, you've kept your feelings to yourself. If I understand you clearly, you're saying that you like my sister. ” Logan said and continued smiling. He'd never seen Adams this shaken about anything before.

       “ None of this is funny. I didn't speak gibberish, did I? Yes, I like your sister. I don't know her but ever since I saw her, my mind hasn't been at peace. She's invaded my thoughts. ”

      “ I'm not finding it funny too but I can't help but laugh. I'm not Katherine so I can't speak for her but she also questioned your presence on our trip. I think you should talk to her and tell her how you feel. Maybe you're what she needs to get out of her shell. ” 

       “ You know I haven't been with a woman In ages. I'm scared I'll say something stupid to her. ”

       “ You're a grown man and an amazing father. Katherine's a mature woman. I know she's new to all of this but she's smart and she'll understand you. I'll stay out of your way in Blue county. That'll give you guys room to talk. ”

    Adams walked up to his friend and they hugged. Thank goodness Logan hadn't questioned his feelings.

        “ Thanks for understanding. I promise I won't do anything stupid when I'm with her. ”

      “ I know you won't. We should leave. The pilots are waiting for us at the helipad. That reminds me, I need you to help me track down Samantha. I'm worried about her. ”

       “ That's not a problem. Text it to me and I'll send it to one of my tech guys. ”

        “ Thanks buddy. I'm sure Alex's in the car. Lock up so we can leave. ”

      They locked the house properly and drove to the estate. It was a very chatty drive. Logan caught up with Alex and his progress in school and they  talked about a lot of stuff. They arrived at the estate in good time and it was clear for all to see that Alex couldn't contain his excitement. He loved coming over to the estate. He said his goodbyes to his dad and Logan and joined the other kids in preparing for the party.

      Both men transferred their bags into the pickup truck that'll take them to the helipad where Lucas's helicopter was waiting for them. As Katherine approached them, Adams took in her outfit. She  looked gorgeous in Jeans and a T-shirt and peach blazer. She wore some black boots to match. Peach was definitely her color. She was glowing and talk about that hair. Her dark hair was long. She had done it up into a ponytail but the tail still touched her waist.

        They exchanged greetings and he held the door for her while she entered the truck. He sat beside her while Logan sat with the driver in front.

       “ It's so good to see you again Katherine. I'm sorry for reacting the way I did on the first day we met. I was shocked and a little bit confused. ” Adams felt like a high school teenager talking to his school crush. He was a grown man for goodness sake. Why was he feeling this way ?

        “ There's nothing to be Sorry for. I also ran when I saw you. But I hope that we become well acquainted over the next few days. I saw your son earlier. He looks just like you. ”

     “ Thanks Kat. I'll introduce both of you to each other when we get back. I want both of you to be friends before we move to Blue County. ”

     “ Logan explained to me that you've been transferred there. I wish you all the best trying to clean after Marlow. Trust me, you'll need the luck. ”

      “ Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. ”

        They kept the rest of the  conversation light, but one could feel the tension and chemistry between them. They arrived at the helipad and boarded the helicopter. It was a three hours flight to Blue county. Logan took his position beside the pilot. He loved flying planes or copters.

       They continued the journey In silence till they got to Blue County. Robert came to meet them at the private helipad. After their greetings, he drove  them to the house he shared with Angela and Andre.  As they drove, Robert filled them In on some recent info about Marlow.

    From what Adams was able to grab from the conversation, he knew he had his work cut out for him. This place was crawling with criminals. He just wished he had more time so that he could woo her properly.

     Robert knew being in this place was unsettling for Logan. It was the first time he'd come home after the fire years ago. Robert had been in charge of renovating their old house. Logan had refused to come to oversee the work himself. He still had nightmares. He didn't want to press Logan for details. Everything was gonna be fine.

      They finally arrived at the house and they were met by Angela at the door.
