(Y/N): Your First Name
(Y/N)'s POV
As I sat by the fire, I heard frantic footsteps from afar.
'He must be home... ' I thought as I looked down on the pamphlet in my hands.
"The Barbara Pamphlet" (idk) it said as I felt my chest tighten.
Seconds pass, and the door flung open, revealing a panting Norman.
"(Y/N), I can explai-"
"I saved every letter you wrote me. From the moment I saw you, I knew you were mine... You said you were mine... I thought you were mine..." I trailed off as I recalled our days in the Grace Field House.
The four of us were the highest scorers in Grace Field and were the best of friends. We practically did everything together and knew each other well.
Sometimes a little too well...
He and I then were brought to Lambda for experimentation. Every day, the scientists would give me exams, pills, and injections to test my intelligence, but he always knew how to make me feel better.
He always had a warm smile on his face and would leave sweet little notes to me when others weren't looking. He gave me hope in that labyrinth of despair. With each passing day, we fell harder and harder for each other.
At least, that's what I thought.
"Do you know what Emma said when I told her what you'd done?" I asked as I looked at him. His eyes darted off to the floor as he balled his fists.
"She said: "You have married an Icarus. He has flown too close to the sun"..." I gripped tightly on the pamphlet in my hand as I heard the floorboards creak getting closer to me.
"Don't take another step in my direction I can't be trusted around you..." I hissed as I looked back at him with bloodlust in my eyes.
"Don't think you can talk your way into my arms, into my arms..." I continued as I put my arms around me and looked away from him.
"I'm burning the letters you wrote me..." I stated as I faced the fireplace, not seeing the look of horror in my husband's face.
"You can stand over there if you want. I don't know who you are, I have so much to learn..." I said as I compiled the letters I've had for years and put the pamphlet on the mantle place.
'Where did my sweet, innocent Norman go?' I thought as I read some of the lines written in the letters. Sweet memories of us have now become bitter and spiteful.
"I'm re-reading your letters and watching them burn..." I dropped the letters in the fire, watching it turn into a crisp with each passing second.
"(Y/N), stop-"
"You published the letters she wrote to you!" I snapped, stopping him from moving any closer. I felt tears stream down my face but I paid no mind to it.
"You told the whole world how you brought this girl into our bed," I continued as I grabbed the pamphlet and threw it at him harshly.
"In clearing your name, you have ruined our lives!" I yelled as looked at the ground, not wanting to let Norman see the pain he caused me.
"Heaven forbid someone whisper "He's part of some scheme"," I continued as I walked past him. Knowing very well that it was the Ratri Clan that drove him off the edge.
"Your enemy whispers so you have to scream!" I bitterly said as he kept quiet, listening intently to my words.
"I know about whispers..." I started, making my husband look at me curiously.
I see how you look at my sister... " I continued, remembering the look and smile Norman has whenever he's with Emma.
Even I never saw him look at me that way.
"Am I not enough for you?" I thought out loud by accident and felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Don't." I coldly said as I shook it off and wiped my eyes.
"I'm not naive," I started and turned to face my husband.
"I have seen women around you..." I stated with a bitter smile. I could practically see the women surrounding him while he looked away in shame.
"Don't think I don't see how they fall for your charms," I continued and walked back to the fireplace.
"I'm erasing myself from the narrative..." I muttered as I looked at my wedding ring, remembering the event vividly in my mind.
'Was everything a lie?' I thought.
"Let future historians wonder how (Y/N) reacted when you broke their heart," I took off the ring and side-eyed at him with disdain.
"You have thrown it all away. Stand back, watch it burn! Just watch it all burn!" I yelled as I threw my ring into the fire, making the room feel like an inferno.
"And when the time comes," I said as I looked back at Norman. His face was stained with tears and regret was painted all over him.
"Explain to the children the pain and embarrassment you put their mother through..." I said as I put a hand on my stomach and caressed it.
"When will you learn that they are your legacy?" I asked as I looked back at him.
"We are your legacy!" I shouted as he stepped back from surprise.
"If you thought you were mine," I said as I walked closer to him while he kept taking steps back.
"Don't." I hissed as I slammed the door on his face.
Extended Ending:
I put my back against the door and slid down, letting myself cry out.
As the fire died down, I saw something shining in it. I stood up and went to take a closer look.
It was my wedding ring.
It shone brightly, unfazed by the fire. I felt tears fall down more on my face as I fell to my knees.
"I'm helpless..."
(Anyone saw that animatic?) Thank you for the comments!!
