"She’s sweet." Demi remarked with a smile. She looked over at Nick to see him nod in response as he checked out all the pews. It looked like he was trying to find someone. "Who are you looking for?" Demi asked. "Mom, dad, brother…girlfriend?" Demi mumbled the last part but Nick still heard her.
Nick’s head turned to face her. After registering what she said, he laughed and shook his head. “I don’t have a girlfriend.” He said. Demi hid her smile. “I’m looking for my fam-” Just before Nick could finish his sentence, Joe jumped over the pew and onto Nick’s back.
"Jew fro!" Joe exclaimed as he stayed stationed on Nick’s back. Demi laughed at Nick’s face expression as he struggled with Joe’s weight on his back.
"Joe, get off him." An unfamiliar voice said behind Demi. She turned to see another guy with curly brown hair.
"Lemme guess. Another Jonas?" She asked the stranger.
"Was it the curly hair or the adorable face that gave it away?" The Jonas joked. He stuck out his hand. "I’m Kevin. And you are…"
"Demi." She answered, shaking his hand.
"Oh, so you’re the infamous Demi." Kevin said.
Demi looked at Nick, then back to Kevin. “I’m guessing Mama Jonas told you about me.” She joked.
Kevin shook his head. “Nope. This goofball over here.” Kevin said, motioning toward Joe, who was still on Nick’s back.
"Hey," Joe said, sliding off Nick’s back. "Just because you’re the oldest doesn’t mean you can call us goofballs." He defended.
Rolling his eyes and shoulders, Nick said, “He only called you a goofball, dummy.”
"That’s the best comeback I’ve ever heard." Demi sarcastically said, getting a laugh out of Joe and Kevin. Nick responded by sending Demi an ‘oh-you’re-so-funny’ look.
Once his laughter subsided, Kevin said, “Well, Joe and I are gonna be up there with mom and dad.” He pointed to the pew.
"I think me and Dems are gonna hang back here." Nick replied. Demi couldn’t fight the smile that was tugging at the corners of her mouth. Nick had a nickname for her.
Waving goodbye, Joe and Kevin walked off, leaving Nick and Demi in the back pew.
"Where was Kevin last night?" Demi asked as she watched the two oldest Jonas boys walk away.
"He was at his house." Demi looked up at Nick, waiting for him to continue explaining. "He’s married." Nick answered.
"Where’s his wife?"
"She just had a baby on Wednesday, so she’s at home."
"Aw!" Demi cooed. "What is it?"
"A girl."
"What’s her name?"
"Hayden."
Demi smiled. “That’s so cute. But, why is Kevin here? Shouldn’t he be at home, helping with the baby?”
Nick shrugged. “I don’t know. I think Danielle, that’s his wife’s name, has her mom staying with them to help with the kids.”
"Kids?" Demi asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah. He’s got a 2 year old boy, Paul."
"Aw." Demi cooed again.
Nick chuckled. “Yeah, they’re a nice little family.” He remarked with a smile.
Their conversation ended and they both started listening to the music.
Out of the corner of her eye, Demi saw Nick close his eyes and raise his hands as he sang along. If they guy in front of her wasn’t like nine feet tall, Demi would’ve been trying to sing along as well. But this giant was blocking the screen that had the lyrics to the song projected on it. So, while Nick sang his heart out along with the rest of the church, Demi kept busying by looking around. When her eyes landed on Joe, his face expression made her let out a small giggle.
