"Love is a strange thing."

He didn't know what to call it at first, this strange feeling that was suddenly inside of him.

All Tamaki really did know was that it first came the day that he met you...and that it had changed him completely. Not in an obvious way that everyone else could see but in a quiet way, the kind of way that only Tamaki himself was truly aware of.

It started so small.

Just a little feeling, at first, a fuzzy feeling in his chest.

It was a feeling that Tamaki got whenever you were close to him. Whenever you sat near him in class, eyes focused on your notebook. Whenever you walked by him in the halls, chatting with another student. All the little moments that brought you both together also brought along that warm, fuzzy feeling too.

He couldn't ignore it and what's more what that he just couldn't understand it. But it made him notice you and, the more he did, the warmer he felt. When you were near him, Tamaki felt a little less nervous and a little more...bright. Happy. You made him happy and he liked that.

He liked you. A lot.

So maybe Tamaki started hanging around you a little bit more. Not that you really noticed him at all, something he was quietly grateful for. Despite his growing need to be near you, Tamaki couldn't seem to summon up the courage to actually approach you. So he stuck to the shadows...and he secretly watched you.

Whenever and wherever he could, Tamaki had his eyes on you.

Tamaki watched you talk and giggle with your friends, wishing desperately that your laughter was for him and only him.

He watched you as you studied for tests and doodle away in your notebook (once you threw a couple drawings away and Tamaki found himself stuffing them into his pocket) and just about everything else. Hanging, playing games, training, just...everything. Everything you said and did, Tamaki loved it.

Oh, how he loved it!

As he watched you, this feeling only grew more and more. It was hot now and almost sickly sweet, an exciting but frightening feeling at the same time. The change within him became more noticeable and Tamaki began to wonder...just what was happening to him?

What was this feeling and why was it growing darker and deeper within him?

Why did he have to follow you around all the time? And why were you on his mind even when you weren't there?

Tamaki had too many questions and not a single answer, leaving him to drown in this strange feeling. He didn't understand it at all, not for such a long time. But the answer finally came to him as he gazed at you from afar one day:

Tamaki was in love with you!

That pretty, four letter word made a huge grin spread across his face instantly...but it also brought an entirely new set of worries with it.

What is you didn't love him back?

What if you didn't even know him at all?

After all, in all of the time that Tamaki had watched you...had you ever really looked at him? Had you ever really noticed him? Had your eyes ever locked onto him when he wasn't looking? Had your thoughts ever wandered to him when you were alone?

Oh, he hoped so!

But he would never know unless he conquered his fears and got close to you...which he wanted to do more then anything. But he couldn't. He just couldn't. Everyday, he seemed to think of a new way to befriend you and everyday...he failed miserably.

He wanted to talk to you.

To make you giggle and smile, to spend time with you rather then watch you spend it with someone else.

"I'm an idiot..."

Once again, Tamaki had come up with a plan to approach you...and it didn't work out. He hadn't been able to summon up the courage to speak to you. And once again, he was pressing his face into the wall and hiding from everyone else.

"Tamaki...?" A voice asked softly.

You. It was you!

Lifting up his head, Tamaki turned around to look at you. Standing behind him, you had your books in your arms and a worried look on your face. Tamaki's heart flipped and skipped a beat, his cheeks becoming a dusty pink as he stared at you.

"Are you okay?" you asked quietly?"

He didn't say anything, at least, not at first. He just couldn't! There were a million things Tamaki wanted to say but he couldn't seem to make a single word come up. Instead, he stood there like a shy, shocked idiot.

"Sorry!" you suddenly said, "I shouldn't have bothered you."

You turned to leave and at the thought of you walking away, Tamaki suddenly found his voice.

"N-no, it's fine! I just...I guess I'm just kind of stressed you, you know? I just...get like that sometimes."

And then you were turning back around, looking a little...shy. But happy too. Were you happy? Did talking with him make you happy?

Oh, he hoped so!

"I know. That's why I wanted to talk to you. I just wanted to see if you were okay and if you wanted to talk or something."

Tamaki smiled a little, indigo eyes shining.

"Thanks, Y/N."

And then, with a smile and a wave, you walked away. The next day, however, you found Tamaki again and struck up a conversation with him. And the next day and the next and the next...everyday, he waited there for you, heart skipping and mind rolling away with a million hopes and worries.

What if you didn't show up?

What if you didn't want to talk to him or if he said something stupid?

But...what if he made you laugh? Oh, your cute, silly laugh, Tamaki loved it so much! And hearing it for him rather then for someone else...well, that just made it so much better.

So, despite his worries, Tamaki always came...and you always came too.

And the closer you became, the more certain Tamaki was. He was in love with you. Yes, yes, this strangely wonderful feeling just had to be love! And you loved him too. Of course you did...as you sat by Tamaki's side, giggling and chatting away, he knew in his heart that this was love.

This was meant to be!

You and Tamaki, you would be happy together!

Forever and ever.

"It hopes all things, believes all things, endures all things. It makes no sense at all!"
