You didn't understand it.
It just didn't make sense/ Leo had been your best friend for years and now he just...wasn't. He wasn't talking to you, wasn't hanging out with you, he was just...gone. It wasn't like you had been growing apart or had gotten in a fight or anything like that. Nothing had happened between the two of you. Everything had been normal...until it wasn't.
And you just didn't understand why.
Now Bakugou was the only one you had left, he was the only one who seemed to understand what you were going through. He was always there for you no matter what, taking you out in an effort to cheer you up and talking you through everything and more. You were so lucky to have a friend like him at your side.
How many times had he come over when you were feeling lonely?
How many hours had you spent talking quietly with one another, your head leaning on his strong shoulder.
"Katsuki, you're the greatest." You would often whisper.
He really was, wasn't he? Nobody was as sweet and loyal as he was...so you wanted to repay him for all his kindness. You didn't have much but you manged to pull together enough money to buy a big meal from that takeout place he liked. His favorite dinner and his favorite movie (and the added bonus of no one else being home), it was perfect. You rang him up, invited your best friend over that night and smiling when you heard the happiness in his voice.
"Yeah, I'll be there soon."
Perfect.
For a few minuets, you bustled around, getting the last little bits together. A loud, sudden knock surprised you. Was he already here? That was quick! You happily opened the door, expecting to see Bakugou standing before you...but it wasn't him.
It was Leo.
And he looked horrible. His arm was wrapped in a sling and every inch of skin you could see was bruised and cut. And when he pushed his way inside, you saw that he walked with a bad limp as well. Immediately, worry and fear began to set in as you watched him slam and locked the door.
"Leo! What happened to you?"
"Y/N, there's not enough time."
He was moving around as fast as he could, locking windows and closing curtains. Leo began to make his way towards the backdoor when he stumbled forward. As he fell to the floor, his face twisted up and he cried out in pain.
"Oh!"
You were at his side in a second, pulling him to his shaky legs and forcing him to sit down on the couch.
"Leo, what is going on? Who did this to you? Where have you been?"
He answered all three questions with a single word:
"Bakugou."
You didn't understand him at first, looking at him with a confused expression on your face. What did Bakugou have to do with this? But Leo answered that question too as kept talking, the words pouring out of him.
"He...he came over. He told me to stay away from you and I didn't understand...Y/N, he attacked me. And he said that if I ever talked to you again then he'd do worse. I tried to listen but...I couldn't just leave you with him!"
"No...no..."
"Y/N, you have to listen to me! Bakugou is crazy!"
You didn't want to listen.
You didn't want to believe a word of this.
But all at once, you're brain started connecting things. Things you had ignored. Things you hadn't thought very much about before.
The way he always had to know where you were, who you were with, what you were doing. You had excused it as him being a little bit over protective, your best friend just trying to make sure you were safe.
The way he glared at other people when they got too close or talked to you too much. You had thought it was just grumpy old Bakugou...
The way certain people had dropped out of your life. It hadn't been just Leo. Suddenly, you were remembering the many friends and acquaintances from over the years that had suddenly stopped talking to you. One by one, all of them had vanished...finally leaving you with only Bakugou.
"Oh my god..."
"I had to tell you. I'm sorry but you needed to know."
"Leo...he's on his way here."
"What?"
"I...I invited him over! I didn't know!"
Panic began to bubble up inside as Leo slowly stood up, reaching out towards you with his good hand.
"We need to go. NOW. He's going to see my car outside and-"
And it was too late.
The back door burst open with a loud bang, causing you both to whirl around in shock. You screamed in fright when you saw Bakugou standing there, his red eyes raging. But he wasn't looking at you. His furious gaze was fixed only on Leo.
"What. Did you. Do." He growled.
Despite his broken state, Leo still stood in front of you. He met Bakugou's gaze and answered him in a shaking voice.
"What I should have done weeks ago. You need to leave."
Bakugou only laughed loudly, his bright eyes flashing.
"Oh, I do? Are you gonna fucking make me? I told you before and I'm telling you now...you are not-"
"Katsuki!"
He stopped. The fire in his eyes burned a little lower as he looked at you. And he almost looked... a little regretful.
"Why are you doing this? This isn't what a hero would do!" You pleaded.
"Of course it is! A hero protects people. A hero keeps his loved ones safe...Y/N...this isn't how things were supposed to go...but I'm going this because I am your hero. I'm doing this because I love you."
"But it's wrong!"
"No. No it's not. An act done in the name of love can never be wrong. You'll understand that soon."
And just like that, he went for Leo.
Bakugou was faster and stronger then you had ever realized, moving so quickly that neither of you had time to react. He took out Leo so easily, tossing him aside like he was absolutely nothing. You screamed as he did, attempting to rush to you friend's side. But Bakugou grabbed you before you could reach Leo, shouting at you to calm down.
"Just let me explain!"
"Let me go! Get AWAY FROM ME!!"
He whirled you around, his hands digging painfully into your soft skin. The rage had returned to his eye, burning brighter then ever.
You wanna play that way? Fine. I'll fucking play."
His fist came down upon you swiftly and hard. The single blow was enough to send you to the ground, laying in an unconscious heap at his feet. Bakugou looked at you for a moment, wishing desperately that things had been different.
But it was okay.
He could clean this mess up. He could fix it all.
And he would start with him. Leo was looking at Bakugou with fearful eyes as he struggled to get to his feet. Bakugou strode forward, marching towards his rival. He would fix everything and then...then you would belong to him.
