We pulled up to Aunt Kora and Uncle Kai's apartment complex, parking in the underground garage before unloading my luggage.
"We have a dear friend of mine that we want you to meet once you're unpacked." Aunt Kora smiles pulling me into a side hug as we walk to the elevator, Aunt Kora pushing the button for the 5th floor as the doors slide closed. We ride up to the floor in a comfortable silence, my hands resting on my suitcase and carry on while I lean against the wall. The elevator dings and the door slide open, revealing a clean hallway lined with doors and security keypads. I follow my Aunt and Uncle, counting the doors as we pass them one.... Two.... three..... Four.... Five.... We are five doors down on the right, I remind myself, not wanting to get lost or confused.
"Here's the pin to open the front door," Uncle Kai smiles, showing me the pin and handing me a paper with the pin written on it, "Please take off your shoes in the entryway and put on a pair of slippers." He smiles, seemingly unsure of my japanese manner knowledge. I nod and slip off my shoes, placing them in their cubby before stepping up onto the ledge and slipping on a comfy pair of slippers I sent over. I roll my suitcase into the living room and take the chance to look around, mentally noting the layout of the apartment.
"Here's your room Mera," Aunt Kora grins, opening up a door to the left of the living room "Uncle Kai and I's room is on the other side of the room. Feel free to look around and get settled in, do you want any help?" She questions as I roll my luggage to the room's door.
"I think I'll be okay, thank you for asking, I'll be sure to let you know if I need any help." I smile softly, bowing to both of them in thanks. I roll all my luggage in and take a look around the room, seeing that most of my boxes had already arrived. I pull my blue-tooth speaker out of my purse, turning it on and syncing my phone then turning on some peppy music.
A few hours pass and I have all my luggage and boxes unpacked, everything put away and organized. I look over at my altar and decide to kneel and pray to the deities for good luck on tomorrow's entrance exams. You see my quirk is called Witchcraft, I am able to use spells and symbols to cause different events to happen, in order to hide my Quirk while I was in America I studied the Wiccan religion and discovered that it helped enhance my quirk. After a good 30 minutes kneeling in front of the altar I left my room, smiling as I see my aunt in the kitchen, and uncle Kai sitting with a strange blond haired man in the living room.
"I'm all finished unpacking!" I giggle, bouncing into the kitchen to stand at the island counter, "I see we have a guest, my name is Mera, but you can call me Kayda." I smile and slightly bow to the thin blonde man. The man bows back and smiles as best as his gaunt face allows him.
"It's nice to meet you young Kayda, I'm Toshinori Yagi. I worked alongside your aunt when Quirks were more accepted in America." he explains, my eyes lighting up as is realize who he actually is."It's nice to meet you, I assume that you prefer to keep All Might and your normal look separate, Toshinori-sama?" I question, absentmindedly calling a textbook from my room and casting a passive reading spell. The blond man nods and looks up at me with shadowy eyes.
"Yes. The symbol of peace has an appearance to uphold and this," he motions to his thin body and gaunt face. I nod in agreement, knowing how ooks based the world is. "Tell me about your quirk and how you feel about the exams tomorrow." he smiles taking a sip of tea, I oblige and call my equipment and tools from my bedroom, the tarot cards, crystal ball, wand, and spell books laying in front of him.
"To put it simply, my quirk allows me to be a fairy tail kind of witch. I use my energy to cast spells, use magic tools, and use different symbols to produce different results." I pick up the cards and wand, "for example I can help predict events using the tarot cards as well as summon the spirits that embody the cards. The wand helps me to direct and control my magic, the crystal ball helps me deal damage to large areas using concentrated bursts, and the spell books help me recall spells and cast them quickly." I smile as he runs his fingers over the tools with a curious look, my textbook continues to float, the pages magically turn as information is funneled into my brain.
"That must be useful, though it must have some drawbacks. Are you confident about the exams?" Toshinori-sama asks as I refill his cup with some more hot tea.
"Pretty confident, though the drawbacks of my quirk can be quite taxing. If I use too many high powered spells I'm left physically depleted, if the spells are too mentally complex then I won't be able to focus or recall information well." I smile a bit sheepishly, knowing that my quirk's drawbacks aren't as extreme as other people's. I pour myself a cup of tea and sit in the chair next to Toshinori-sama, my magical tools flying back to my room and returning to their designated spots.
"It seems like those drawbacks can be worth it depending on the situation." The man comments before taking another sip of tea, Aunt Kora placing a plate of food in front of me with a smile before going and sitting next to Uncle Kai.
"Is there anything I should know about before the entrance exam?" I question after thanking my aunt for the food, taking a bite of rice and stir fry, humming in delight at the exquisite taste.
"Nothing that you can't handle honestly. I have full confidence in you and your abilities." Toshinori-sama chides, shooting a smile at me before finishing the rest of his tea and standing up. "I'll take my leave of you all. Thank you for the tea and company, I'll see you tomorrow young Kayda." he bows and walks out of the apartment, the door chiming and locking behind him. My aunt and uncle resume watching TV while eating, my book still turning as I study and eat. It's soon dark outside and I'm no longer able to focus. I yawn and close the book, bidding my aunt and uncle a good night before setting up my futon and heading to bed.
