The battles pass by fairly quickly, everyone giving their all in hopes of making it to the next round of battles. During one of the breaks I take a moment to glance over at Bakugou, the red eyed boy looking serious and in a bit of turmoil. I wonder what it’s over. I mean we are friends, that won’t change, no matter how the fight turns out. I secretly want him to make it through, knowing that the win means so much to him, especially since he feels like he needs to prove himself and his worth. We both go to prepare in our separate waiting rooms, walking together in silence until we have to part ways. He turns to me and scowls a bit, his eyes hard and filled with passion, and something else.

“I hope you know that just because we are friends doesn’t mean I will hold back while fighting you.” He gruffly informs me, glancing away and tsking when I move to open the door to my waiting room.

“I hope you don’t. No matter what happens we will still be friends, but that doesn’t mean either of us want to beat the other any less.” I smile softly, my green eyes full of determination and stubbornness. He nods and smirks a bit before walking towards his waiting room and putting a hand on the doorknob to open it.

“I’m still gonna beat you, damn magic nerd!” He yells before entering and slamming the door behind him, just to make a point and keep with his fiery personality. I enter my own room and turn on some calming music, taking the time to meditate and prepare a plan. Bakugou is going to be a hard fight, I know that, especially since I already promised myself and my aunt that I wouldn’t summon any of my tarot cards.

I was flipping through my spells and equipment when Iida and Midoriya come in, both of their eyes sparkling with a plan in mind. I tilt my head curiously as I look them over, wondering what they could want or have in mind.

“Kayda-chan! I know you’re up against Bakugou, and I have a plan for you. It may not be much as I was rushed, but I care about you and want to help you as much as I can!” Midoriya passionately exclaims, punching the air and holding out the notebook containing his meticulous hero notes. I smile and shake my head, standing up and beginning to usher them to the door.

“Thank you Midoriya-kun, I really appreciate the thought, but I think I have this handled on my own. I have a plan in mind, and though I would normally love to hear you out, I need to do this on my own.” I smile as the two look a bit down and forlorn at my words, they exit, closing the door behind them. I quickly finish preparing, double checking my supplies before heading towards the arena to face my friend and opponent Bakugou.

We both enter the ring, Present Mic introducing both of us before including that he was personally rooting for me to win. Midnight announces for us to start, pointing her leather flogger towards us and the hero Cementoss standing by as a second referee. I take a moment to study Bakugou, neither one of us moving as we stare one another down. in the blink of an eye I had summoned two short staffs, instead of my normal swords, and begin attacking him head on.

I focus, casting a speed spell as I try to dodge his attacks and cause them to create some rubble on the ground for me to use as ammunition. I keep his focus on me as I cast another spell, causing the debris to float high in the air. Sweat begins to pour down my face as I concentrate and keep up my attacks. I began to slow from the effort, causing me to unzip my jacket and toss it at him through the smoke, drawing his attention to that so I could strike at him from the back.

He ends up striking me in the stomach, setting off an explosion at the same time to send me flying back. The pain from the burns and blunt force causing me to lose control over the speed spell, my stamina beginning to drain as my rib aches and I sense internal bleeding beginning to start. However I continue attacking, causing more rubble to fly up into the air as the crowd boos Bakugou, Aizawa-sensei intervening and shaming the pro hero that started all the commotion.
