It is midnight, and I can't fall asleep. I lay there, tossing and turning. But all I can think about is Dylan.
How he walked me to my class. The smile he gave. His genuine laugh. How he wanted me to tell him the truth of what I thought. Me. Of anyone. Me.
But it was just one day out of millions. He probably doesn't even remember anything from this morning. But to me, I will always remember it. But this memory will always be a memory. It can't be anything more. It just can't.
...
It is 5:30am. My alarm goes off but I'm already laying there, awake. I turn off my alarm, crawl out of bed, and trudge to the bathroom to get ready.
When I exit the bathroom, my phone is glowing with tons of texts from the girls.
"You have some explaining to do!"
"What the hell were you thinking?!"
"Why would you do this to me!"
"Kailynn is pissed at you."
"You got some nerves."
And on and on and on the texts go. I decide it's best not to respond to their rants, so I turn my phone off.
'I'll just wait till I get to school to deal with this.'
As I'm heading down the stairs, I'm greeted at the bottom by my mother.
"Beth, I need you to take the dogs out."
"I have a bus I need to get to."
Smack
"I wasn't asking, I was demanding."
"Fine."
I walk past my mother and head to the back door to take out the dogs. As I'm taking them out I notice the bus coming down the street before heading into another neighborhood.
'Great. I have 10 minutes before he comes to my bus stop.'
"Come on dogs! Let's go inside! Now!!!"
The dogs run inside. I hurry to complete getting things together. I rush to the door, but then I'm blocked by my mother.
Smack
"You shouldn't rush the dogs. Would if they have an accident in the house?!"
"They'll be fine, I need to go now."
I push past my mother, open the door and slam it behind me.
...
I'm speed walking to the bus stop. Trying to get there in time. Wishing, hoping, that my bus stays for me.
I see the bus starting to pull away. In a panick, I start running while turning my flashlight on my phone. I see the bus driver turn his head, probably trying to figure out what the light is from. He spots me and stops the bus.
I'm able to climb aboard and find a seat as the bus driver pulls away.
...
As my bus is pulling up to the sidewalk of the school, I see the doors swing open.
Out walks Kailynn and Sarah, while the rest of the girls wait in the hallway. I let everyone get off, leaving me to be the last, trying to enjoy as much peace as possible before being interrogated.
I step off and walk towards Kailynn and Sarah.
"Hello girls."
"Don't hello us!" Kailynn exclaims.
