Tyler only had a three day break for Christmas, but he wanted to make the most of it; so, he decided to take you on a nice, romantic Christmas get-a-way in a cabin in the mountains.

Ty knew how much you loved the mountains and the coziness that was a cabin get-a-way, and the two of you would be alone, far away from the real world for a few days. The two of you would get to relax and just enjoy each other, even just for 72 hours and... and Tyler would finally be able to ask you something he had been dying to ask you for months.

You and Ty had been together for years and they had been the best years of his life. There was no one Tyler loved more on this planet than you. He knew that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with you after the first year the two of you spent together and the longer the two of you were together the more Tyler grew to love you and he knew that it was time for him to finally pop the question.

He decided that he was going to take you away on the much needed romantic mountain get-a-way and propose to you. A Christmas Eve proposal would be romantic and memorable and just perfect.

The get-a-way itself was perfect. The view from the cabin was amazing and the inside was just beautiful. And there was so much snow. You loved it. It didn't snow in Dallas.

The cabin was separated by the surrounding cabins by trees which gave it the appearance of isolation. But besides those other cabins, the two of you were all alone and no one was shoveling snow so you watched as the snow continued to pile up.

You and Ty played out in the snow together, just enjoying it. Being Canadian, Tyler missed the snow, too. However, it also didn't take the cold weather long to freeze your body and force you back into the cabin's warm walls.

Fortunately, Ty knew exactly how to warm you up...

Yeah, the two of you spent a good portion of your short get-a-way in bed... not that you were complaining about that.

Christmas Eve came around and you had no idea that he was planning on asking you the question in just a few hours and that he was slightly terrified.

And the thing is, is that Tyler had no idea why he was so sacred. The two of you had been together for years and couldn't be more in love and he wouldn't ask you if he thought you were going to say no to him. So, really, he should be excited because he was positive that you were going to say yes.

But you always made him a little nervous and unsure and he loved you so much and he just wanted everything to be perfect. And...well...Tyler was planning on asking you to marry him in a little bit of a unique way and he was slightly confident that he was going to fuck that up, so he blamed his nerves on that.

You and Tyler were curled up on the couch in front of the fire cuddling when he suddenly got up. You asked him where he was going and he told you that he would "be right back."

He came back with a small wrapped box and handed it to you before sitting back down beside you. The box was small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. The size and shape of the box made your heart beat faster.

"Christmas is tomorrow." You told him.

"It's not really a Christmas gift." Tyler whispered, which caused you to swallow.

A small box that wasn't a Christmas gift.

You released a shaky breath and slowly unwrapped the box. As you predicted, it was a small blue jewelry box. You gave yourself a second before you opened the box.

Inside was a beautiful diamond ring.

"Wow..." You breathed and looked to your side for Ty, but he wasn't sitting beside you anymore.

You had been so preoccupied with the ring that you hadn't noticed that Tyler slipped off the couch and onto his knee beside you.

"Ty...?" You asked carefully.

Tyler opened his mouth and then closed it with a laugh. "Oh, fuck. Okay... Je t'aime tellement. Tu es mon meilleur ami et mon plus grand amour. Tu avais là pour me relever quand je suis tombé, tu avais là pendant les bons et les mauvais moments. Le simple fait de voir ton visage ou d'entendre ta voix me fait sourire, même quand je ne veux pas. Et je connaître sans l'ombre d'un doute que je veux passer le reste de ma vie avec toi. Alors, veux-tu m'épouser?" [I love so much. You have been my best friend and my greatest love. You've been there to lift me up when I'm down, you've been there through the good times and the bad. Just seeing your face or hearing your voice makes me smile, even when I don't want to. And I know without a shadow of a doubt that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. So, will you marry me?]

You felt your eyes begin to water as you smiled at him. You and Tyler had spent the last year trying to learn French. And Tyler, if you were both being honest, had been struggling. Not that that was surprising since he was always working on hockey.

But, when Ty was on the road, he had been working extra hard on the French. He knew that you were so dedicated to learning a new language and that you thought it was cute when he spoke it, so that's how he decided to propose.

"Oui." You nodded. "Ty, I have always been yours." [Yes]

Ty smiled and took the ring box from you, pulling the ring from it with shaking fingers to slide it onto your finger. It fit perfectly.

"Je t'aime tellement." You whispered to him before pulling him into a kiss; your first kiss as an engaged couple. [I love you so much]
