Pyeongchang was your third Olympics. You represented Canada in Vancouver and Sochi and you were back again to defend your back to back gold medals. But, there were two things that made the 2018 Olympics different from the other two:
You recently got married, so you were no longer Olympian (Y/N) (L/N), but (Y/N) Crosby.
And Pyeongchang was also your first Olympics without your husband, Sidney.
You first met your husband back in Vancouver in 2010. You were both Canadian gold medalists in hockey and one thing led to another... The two of you met again in Sochi four years later and there still was the attraction to one another, so he had invited you to Pittsburgh and the two of you had been together since then.
You and Sidney got married back in December 2017, and you were officially a Crosby.
But it felt so weird to be going to the Olympics without Sid, to be the hockey Crosby of the 2018 Olympic Games. And you would be lying if you said you didn't feel a bit more pressure than you normally would... The Olympics always brought a fuck ton of pressure, and the fact that you had won back to back gold medals and were back looking for the third, and Canada had won four straight gold medals and looking for the fifth, brought even more, but the name on the back of your jersey and knowing what it meant to western viewers, knowing that the entire Penguins team would be watching your game from America, it added more pressure you didn't need.
But you managed, you always managed.

"Is it just me, or does it feel weird to not have Sidney Crosby on our Olympic team?"
"I most definitely agree. He should be out there. But, we do have a Crosby in these Olympic hockey games: his wife."
"That's true. (Y/N) and Sidney Crosby have both won two Olympic medals, both gold. If Canada gets on the podium, she'll have more Olympic medals for hockey than her husband."
"Talk about a hockey dream team. Their kids are going to be hockey gods."
--
And the gold medal game was, unsurprisingly, with the United States. And the game went to a shootout. Which Canada didn't win. Your team let in three goals and you and your teammates could only score twice. You scored one of them.
It was the first time in 1998 that Canada did not bring home Olympic gold.
Sidney called you later that night and he talked to you as you cried and you wished more than anything that he was there with you.
--
"I'll be home Friday afternoon." You had told your husband, but that wasn't true. You were actually coming home Wednesday afternoon and were going to be there for their home game against the Golden Knights.
You had Kris help you get everything planned.
Kris had Sullivan tell the teams that there was going to be a ceremonial puck drop before the game, but that wasn't true, it was just to stall the game.
After warm ups, Sid made his way to center ice, waiting for the carpets and the everything to get set up. He had no idea that they weren't going to be set up.
You stepped out onto the ice from the Zamboni entrance and made your way across the ice as quickly as you could. The screams picked up momentarily as you were broadcasted on the jumbo screen, but you brought your finger up to your lips and they quieted down.
By some miracle, you made it to center ice without Sidney noticing and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around wearing an expression of confusion before a huge smile made its way onto his face.
"Hi." You whispered and he scooped you up into his arms. You squeaked in surprise and did your best to wrap your legs and arms around him.
"I missed you and I'm so proud of you." He whispered to you.
"I missed you too and I love you." You replied, pulling back to kiss him.
"I love you, too." He whispered against your lips when he pulled back.
He put you back down on the ice and the other Penguins came off the bench to give you some love as well.
"I'm happy for Amanda." You told Phil when he came over, causing him to laugh.
Slowly the guys went back to the bench and Sidney patted you on the back with a big smile, telling you to get off the ice so the game could begin. The faster the game started, the faster it would be done and he and you could go home.
You looked down the ice and smiled. "Just one more thing..."
You did your best to jog down the ice towards the Golden Knights' end. Fleury smiled and pulled his mask off before skating towards you, meeting you half way. You couldn't leave without getting some Flower love.
After getting some Flower love, you made your way to the Penguins bench to get off the ice so the game could start.
