Dallas was winning 5-2 against the Capitals on home ice with just under five minutes to go in the third period, and Washington was beginning to get agitated. Well they had been agitated for a while, but their agitation was beginning to boil over.

Before it was just some chirps, which was more annoying than anything else, then it was some slashing, only one of which were called, and everything just kept building and from there.

Wilson was on the ice and he wanted to fight, which wasn't surprising. Fighting, hitting, being brutal was what he did. But, no one on Dallas was letting him get under their skin. There was less than five minutes left and Dallas was made up of even minded players who knew better than to engage in the dying minutes of the game.

And Wilson didn't like that.

Washington iced the puck and Dallas went to make a full change.

Jamie made his way towards the bench from the Capitals' end with his head down, and Wilson took advantage of that, moving towards Jamie so that his shoulder would knock against Jamie's. The action caused Jamie to snap his eyes up before he shook his head. Jamie made a motion to skate around Wilson when Wilson opened his mouth.

"Your girlfriend is real pretty."

Jamie stopped in his tracks and skated closer to Wilson. "What did you just say?"

Wilson's lips twitched into a smirk. "It's a scary world out there for beautiful women."

Jamie clenched his fist in his glove and pressed it against Wilson's chest. "Are you threatening her?"

Wilson shook his head. "Nah, I'm just saying it's a real shame she doesn't have someone who's able to protect her."

"You—" He didn't finish his sentence as he dropped his gloves and grabbed Wilson's jersey before landing a hit on Wilson. Wilson didn't hesitate on dropping his gloves and grabbing Jamie's jersey, a smirk playing on his lips.

Wilson had more experience, but Jamie was bigger and your honor was on the line. He wasn't going down.

Jamie landed a few hard hits and so did Wilson, both of their helmets and their elbow pads coming off in the process. Jamie had the last laugh as he landed a hard punch on Wilson's jaw and Wilson stumbled, the two of them going down onto the ice with Jamie on top.

The linesmen jumped onto the two of them immediately, pulling the two of them apart as both benches banged their sticks against the boards.

Jamie was quick to get back to his skates and the ref pointed to the bench and made the fighting call with his hands. Jamie kept his face emotionless as he stepped onto the bench and made his way down the tunnel to the dressing room while the fans cheered.

Wilson took a moment to get back to his skates before he also made his way to the Capitals' bench and down the tunnel to the dressing room.

You were in the arena watching the game and you were shocked to see Jamie engage with Wilson. And scared. You held your breath as you watched the fight, and when Jamie came out on top and made his way to the dressing room, you quickly picked up your things and made your way down to the Stars' locker room.

You knocked softly on the door before opening it. Jamie was pacing around the locker room, still dressed in his jersey and equipment, except for his helmet, gloves and elbow pads, which had come off in the fight.

Jamie turned his head at the sound of the door and the tension fell from his shoulder when he saw you. His lips twitched into a small smile and he crossed the room towards you, his hands coming up to cup your face.

You brought your hands up to cover his. "Hey, what happened?"

Jamie sighed. "He was talking about you...And I..." He shook his head.

"He said something about me?" You asked.

"I don't want to talk about it. But, you're okay and I'm okay, that's all that matters."

You smiled at him. "You're sure you're okay?"

Jamie gave you a small smile in return and nodded. "I'm sure."
