~ A/N: This is a short filler chapter! You don't have to read it, but it reveals some key points in Hikari's backstory. I mainly just added it to sort of slow down how fast the story is going, and to give a kind of intermission I guess? I dunno. Take it as you will and do with it what you want!
P.S. The first chapter's picture/art is MADE BY ME, PLEASE DO NOT TAKE OR USE. Other chapter's pictures/art is NOT MINE (unless stated otherwise), and credit goes to all creators. Thank you! - Alex-Jade Wolf ~
~ The Very Beginning ~
Atsuhiro halted in his steps, hand frozen as it hovered above the doorknob. After a second, he whirled around, arm outstretched, ready to compress the person who called out to him. His brows furrowed as his eyes slowly fell downwards to a figure, who was barely three feet tall. She had her skinny arms wrapped around her head, blocking her face, as if he was going to hit her.
"P-pwease no hut me..."
"What...?" He scowled. "What's a child doing out here? How old are you, girl?"
"T-Two..."
"A two year old child in an alleyway in the middle of the night?" Atsuhiro prodded at the child, who flinched at every movement he made. "You're barely more than bones. Where's your family?"
"F-Famwy?" The girl tilted her head, her raven hair which was down to her knees now touching the wet ground.
"Yes, the people who take care of you." Noticing the girl's confusion grow, he sighed and held out his arms in a move to pick her up. Frightened, she backed up quickly, but tripped on her own feet and fell backwards onto the ground.
"Don't be scared, child. I won't hurt you." He soothed, slowly moving closer and picking her up. She shook like a leaf in the wind as he cradled her, going inside the bar to introduce her to the others.
Once inside, the two figures there stared Atsuhiro down.
"A child?" Tomura rasped, puzzled by the shivering form. "Why do you have a child?"
"She was standing outside the bar."
"We're not an orphanage-"
"You say Sako has a child with him?" Master's voice hissed through the speakers in the monitor.
"He does." Kurogiri affirmed.
"Get rid of it!" Tomura snapped, slamming his hand down on the bar's surface.
"Wait." Master spoke, catching everyone's attention. "Does it have a Quirk?"
Atsuhiro glanced at the girl in his arms. "Well?"
There was a short silence before the child shook her head lightly.
"She does not. However, she is only two years old. She may not get it until she is three or four."
Master hummed. "What of her parents or family? Has she said anything about them?"
"She didn't appear to even know what the words meant when I asked her outside."
"I see...Sako."
"Yes, Master?"
"You are to watch over the child until she gets her Quirk or she becomes five years old. If she does not develop a Quirk before her fifth birthday, cast her back to the streets. Someone else will find her. But if she does develop Quirk, she could become a valuable asset."
