~ A/N:There is a slight gore warning on this chapter!! - Alex-Jade Wolf ~
Traitor.
Failure.
Pathetic.
Nothing.
Hikari was not meant to be a hero or a villain and she knew it deep down. It was a fear she had locked away in the back corner of her mind, gathering dust, never to be touched. But once her true roots were discovered, that dark corner consumed her. She knew she was no better than a civilian caught in the crossfire, especially since her response to anything was flight instead of fight like all heroes and villains. At the moment-listening to the bickering of both sides, the struggles of her family in the binds, the morale of the heroes rising-all she wanted was to run upstairs into her room, squeeze under her bed and snuff out the sounds that were making her nerves fray and anxiety spike dramatically.
She was not scared; she was terrified.
She did not want to fight. She did not want to talk. She wanted to run. Run from it all. Make everything disappear and start over again.
She did not struggle anymore, relaxing her muscles as best she could and letting herself go limp. Her head hung down; she did not realize she was crying until she saw the small dots of darkened wood and felt the breeze caressing her completely soaked cheeks and jaw.
She did not care.
"Kamui! Let her go." For a moment, Hikari could not tell who had called out. Her head still reeled, the ringing increasing and decreasing in random spikes.
"What? Why?" Shinji remarked.
"She isn't a villain. Not yet, anyway." Toshinori said, walking over to her. She heard his footsteps, but did not bother to lift her head. She was too ashamed to meet his gaze. The wooden wraps gently let her go, recoiling back to their master. She dropped to her knees painfully and-for a moment-though they had dislocated.
She did not care.
"Kurogiri!" Tomura suddenly shrieked, struggling against his restraints. "Warp over as many as you can!"
"The Nomu, right?" Toshinori battled. Hikari had not noticed he approached her until his vice-like hands were lifting her to her feet and steadying her. Her eyes met Katsuki's-it was happening more often than she would like to admit. Like always, his gaze was nothing but confusion, as if she were a puzzle he was struggling to solve. Why? I'm the most simple person in UA. There's nothing left to me but wasted space.Everything had become dulled, like it was just a TV show playing in the next room over.
Tomura's angry growl reached her ears. "What are you waiting for, dammit?"
"I-I'm sorry, Tomura Shigaraki..." Kurogiri responded painfully. "The Nomus were supposed to be in a fixed location but...they're gone!"
Toshinori slapped a hand on Katsuki's shoulder. "It seems you have a lot to learn, Shigaraki. You're still green. Your little League underestimated all of us. The soul of this young man. The police's diligent investigations. And...our righteous fury! Enough is enough. Your game has come to an end, Tomura Shigaraki!"
"All Might, please! You're the only hero Stain respected! You are worthy!" Shuichi yelped, squirming around. Hikari could not completely stomp out her pity for him; she struggled to keep her feet from carrying her over to him and helping him. He was just a man running after his beliefs.Does he really deserve all this?Hikari chewed her lip.Of course he does. He's killed people. Innocent people just doing their jobs. But that's the cold hard truth, isn't it? We're all just humans chasing our beliefs and dreams in the end.
