Despite some assumptions of what a train station was like, the Tatooine station was rather calm, albeit loud. A crowd waited patiently-with the exception of a few business workers-for their train to slide to a halt in front of them. Included in the crowd was Hikari and Atsuhiro, standing side by side. Hikari clutched the briefcase with her improved hero costume inside. Mei worked day and night to finish the alterations they spoke about so the blackette could try them out during her internship.
Atsuhiro spoke, scaring Hikari slightly due to the silence between them on the way to the station. "Do you remember what Master told you?"
"Anyway, when you find out who scouted you for internships, I want you to take the highest ranking Pro Hero. It is a perfect opportunity to retrieve outside information. I just hope you can actually get something of use instead of nothing at all, like you have been." The deep voice rumbled through her head. "If you fail to get any information about All Might before Tomura launches a successful attack, then I see no need to keep such a disgrace around." "How could I forget."
"Hikari." Fumikage walked towards them, his own briefcase in hand. Atsuhiro turned around, put a hand on Hikari's shoulder, and leaned down to whisper in her ear.
"Do not disappoint us." After giving her shoulder a squeeze, he disappeared into the crowd. Hikari failed to greet her friend, her breath caught on a knot in her throat. Fumikage seemed to not notice her uncomfortable state.
"Are you ready?" He asked lowly.
"I-I..." Hikari's voice cracked slightly and she cleared her throat, an embarrassed blush rising. "...as I'll ever be."
He nodded as the bullet train slid to a smooth stop in front of them. They boarded the train, footsteps thunking against the metal ground. Fumikage gently pushed his way to an empty spot, but Hikari hesitated. She glanced behind her, at the crowd. Atsuhiro stood by the far wall, facing her, staring at her with a lack of emotion. A frigid coldness slowly spread through Hikari's chest, like she had swallowed ice which was freezing her from the inside out. No longer, when she looked at her guardian, did she see a caring, funny and resourceful man. Now she only saw a merciless canine, carrying out his master's orders without hesitance, his glare enough to strike fear in his targets. As the train's doors shut, she wondered if she was his next target or simply a liability he wanted to rid himself of.
The blackette nauseously shuffled through the stuffy compartment, squeezing between bodies, jabbed by elbows and shoulders, stepped on. She was by Fumikage's side in a matter of seconds, but felt as if she had just battled in a wrestling match, fighting to be king of the hill. Her insides still felt coated in a sheet of ice, filling her lungs with cold clouds. For a moment, a thought flashed into her mind. Am I sick? I rarely ever feel cold-She shook her head, a few raven locks spilling out of the messy bun at the base of her neck. Whatever it is, I'm sure it will go away soon.
Hikari's fingers dropped from her uniform shirt's buttons to the steel case in her lap. She watched her fingertips trace the large olive '10' on the front, remembering Mei's voice explain the modifications.
"I added the shoes you requested and let me tell you just how amazing they are! I tried to keep the ballet shoe type material so you can walk quietly and the toes are steeled. Additionally, I added things to help you keep your balance in the air. Oh! I also recreated the costume in a lighter, more airy material. The hems protect a little device I created that looks like a pipe cleaner, but it's meant to keep you cool! It won't do much, but I figured a little is better than none, right? You also have gloves now, too! They can amplify the heat you create, without you having to emit a lot more light. The shoes are like that too! Whaddaya think? Awesome, right?"
