MACKENZIE HAD EVERY REASON TO BE
nervous tonight. she was going to be at a crowded restaurant, on a 'date' with her crush, her biological sister who she'd never met before would be at her house in five minutes. she had to meet a new dude, who was supposedly a fuck boy and rude, and to top it all off- the outfit nadia had picked out for her was quite revealing.not that she cared or anything, right? mackenzie ziegler doesn't give any fucks.
"kenzie? you ready?" nadia poked her head in kenzie's room as the brunette finished curling the last strand of straight hair.
"not quite," she said, scrambling due to the fact that she had only a few minutes to get ready.
"don't stress," the red head set her hand on kenzie's shoulder. "i'll let maddie in when i hear the knock. she can help you finish getting ready."
"that's not what i'm worried about," she groaned. "shes gonna hate me when i tell her i set her up with a sixteen year old."
"mackenzie! you didn't even tell her? and how old is she?" nadia exclaimed, preparing to scold the girl.
"nineteen, almost twenty," the girl grimaced, bracing herself for nadia to go off.
"mackenzie!"
"i know, i know. but... mandla, the way he talks about her! he's so in love, it's so cute. i needed to do something. i know it won't last, but it'll make him happy for the night," kenzie half smiled in the mirror, staring into her own eyes. truly, she was proud of herself. the amount of change in her heart since the day she first walked into her new home was insane.
nadia sighed, "you know, you're right. but i cant say maddie will be too happy with it," she chuckled, and the doorbell rang seconds after. "i'll get it."
"'kay, i'll be ready in like two seconds. meet you downstairs!" kenzie smiled at her sister in the mirror, putting the second earring in her ear.
the outfit was entirely from nadia's closet- a simple, red cropped t-shirt (she thought it made her look like winnie the pooh), and high-waisted jeans. blue jeans. probably the second time she wore light jeans since she began picking out her own clothes. to top it off, she shoved her feet into nadia's high top converses (kenzie thought they were too basic, but nadia insisted she wear them.)
needless to say, mackenzie wasn't too fond of the outfit; but when she put it on, her entire opinion changed. she adored the way the color red made her eyes sparkle, and the color of the jeans made her skin look so tan. the converse, however, still not a fan of them.
"mackenzie!" she heard nadia yell from downstairs.
she took one last look in the mirror, before running down the stairs, "coming!"
the very moment mackenzie and maddie connected eyes, kenzie knew she did the right thing when she made plans with maddie. the girls had a strong bond- though they'd never met before. hell, they didn't hear each other's names until just days ago. but instantly, they were hugging, in a deep conversation, having the time of their lives. mackenzie had never felt a love like maddie's before, not even from nadia, or even greta.
