"WAIT WAIT WAIT... WHAT DID YOU TELL johnny?!" noah stopped in his tracks, placing his hand on his friend's shoulder, also stopping her.

ignoring the crowds of people annoyed with the pair due to them blocking the hallway, mackenzie's smile faded to a concerned face. "i uh, told him i loved him?"

"no way. johnny wouldn't have come over if i hadn't told him to- in other words, jenzie is growing because of me," he smirked, starting to walk again.

"jenzie. you guys are so dumb for coming up with that," kenzie smiled down at her shoes. although the name was incredibly cringy, it made her overly happy that her friends were supportive of their relationship.

"ever since the night at the cliff. speaking of which, it's getting warm out again, so we'll probably be going there in a week or so," noah pointed out. "if johnny doesn't impregnate you next time we go, i'm done," he pushed the door open, the two reaching the parking lot and walking towards noah's car.

kenzie hit his chest, "dumbass." with perfect timing, her phone rang. "it's natalie, hold on a second," mackenzie held the phone to one ear while covering her other, blocking out the sound of the many students in the school's parking lot.

"hi ma," mackenzie said into the phone. "you do? tell me!" she looked at noah with wide eyes, confusing him as he couldn't hear what natalie was saying.

the teenage girl stopped next to noah's car, and her jaw hit the concrete. "you're kidding. no way," a smile grew on her face. "when?" she looked at noah. although he had no idea what was going on, he grinned because he knew his best friend was happy.

"got it. got it. uh-huh. see you tonight, okay. love you too, bye bye," kenzie hung up the phone, and put her hands on noah's shoulders. "you won't believe what's happening."

he raised his eyebrows, "what's happening, kenz?"

her grin quickly fell, "i mean... it's not that exciting. i might just be exagg-"

"tell me, kenzie."

she inhaled, "natalie's bringing me to court tomorrow, and they're officially changing my last name to turner. awesome, right?"

noah wrapped his arms around mackenzie, "i'm happy for you, kenz!"

"thanks, schnapp."

mackenzie made eye contact with noah; and immediately regretted it. looking into his eyes, an awful feeling rose into her stomach. something about the way he cared so much about her, made her feel horribly sick. guilty. her heart raced, and her cheeks sunk into a red color. yet, her brain failed to comprehend what exactly this feeling was.

"kenzie? are you okay?"

she gulped, "noah, i'm so sorry. i just remembered, ruby has a volleyball game here tonight. i think i might stay after school to watch her."

"oh! why don't i come and wat-" he started.

"don't you have soccer practice?" kenzie rushed.

"aw, you're right. tell ruby i said good luck. adios, amiga!" noah waved. mackenzie waved back for a second, and then hurried into the school, in hopes of finding nadia.

until she realized that wouldn't be the best choice. although kenzie was positive she didn't have feelings whatsoever for her best friend, she knew nadia once had (or still did, she wasn't sure) a liking for noah. so, she texted annie.
