"I bought you one of those coffees you like. And some of those frilly ribbon things you wear in your hair."
"Let me see them!"
Clara snatched the plastic sack frim his hands with a grin, tearing it open and pulling out a pack of eight hair bows, probably intended for children.
"Aw! I love them!"
"I just wanted to thank you for letting me nap yesterday. That was super sweet."
"It was nothing." Clara brushed his concern aside, clipping one of the bows into her hair. It was a dark blue, something like the gatorade she was always giving him.
"Don't forget the coffee." He handed her the cup.
One big gulp later, and Clara's smile was bigger than ever, shining brighter than Jacob would have thought possible. It was contagious, and he found himself smiling as well.
The room seeming lighter than ever, Jacob hekd up three fingers, and counted down.
