"Look what I bought us!"
Clara's excitement nearly knocked Jacob off his feet as he stepped into the room. He placed a steadying hand on his camera and looked her way.
"What did you buy us?"
"It's a chess set...but its meant to be played passively, so you can move the peices whenever you walk by."
"Okay...?"
"We can play a whole game in the background! It can be like our own little thing!"
"I don't even really know how to play."
Clara glowered in his direction and tossed the box aside.
"How can you not know how to play chess?" She asked, sounding genuinely offended by his ignorance. "Doesn't everybody learn at some point?"
"I didn't."
"Well you're just a wierdo."
"I was always the kid with the camera, not the chess set."
"That's no excuse. I was a cheerleader and I learned."
"Maybe you're the wierdo," Jacob pointed out, and started his countdown.
