14: Eavesdropping

Natsu's POV

"Natsu-kun, I'm feeling sick. Please comfort me." Lisanna starts rubbing her head on my shoulder. "Ugh, so sick. Can you pat my head please, Natsu-kun?" I can't listen to this flirting any longer. This is actually beyond.. Gross? I shoved Lisanna's head off my shoulder, "Why are you doing this?" I mumbled to her. "Why are you mean to Lucy? Why are you so protective over me?" I said, raising my voice.

"Why else?" Lisanna said in a 'bitchy voice' "It's obvious that Lucy is bugging you; taking your shirt, taking the time out of your day for useless things. I'm doing you a favour, Natsu-kun." She smiled at me evilly then proceeded to put her head on my shoulder again.

"Lucy doesn't bug me." I declared, "Lucy is my best friend. I'm glad she came to this school so I could meet her." I glared at Lisanna deeply in her eyes, and her expression softened.

"So, she's just a friend?" She whimpered, only able to stare at the ground.

"Yeah," I confirmed, "What does that have to do with anything?"

Lisanna turns her head to me and her face brightens up, "Nothing, I'm just happy."

<><><><>Time Skip: One Month<><><><>

(Still Natsu's POV)

"Lisanna?"

"Here."

"Natsu?"

"Here."

"Lucy?"

"..."

"Absent again?" Mira-sensei pouted. "She hasn't been here for two weeks. Natsu, is Lucy sick?"

"I'm not sure," I replied, "She hasn't answered her door every time I try to visit."

"Oh well!" Lisanna yelled across the classroom. "Life goes on, now let's start learning!" She cheered.

I think during lunch I'll ask Cana, Levy or Juvia where Lucy might be..

Cana's POV

"Wahhh, where's Lu-chan?" Juvia whined, sobbing into her hands.

"Ughh, it's only been two weeks and life is TOO lonely." I grumble, kicking over the trash bin. "You know what? I bet it's that stupid kid Natsu's fault. He probably got her depressed again."

"Cana, don't say that!" Levy scolded, grabbing my arm before I could punch the wall. "The day before Lucy stopped going to school she was in good condition, other than her runny nose. She's probably just sick."

"You don't know that!" I barked back, "What if it's Natsu's fault that she's sick? I am going to punch the living hell out of him!" I screamed using all the anger inside of me.

"Go ahead." Another voice said plainly. All three of us jumped in shock. Only to see that the cause of it; the stupid, and annoying Natsu. What is he here to do, bug us as well?

"Natsu." The three of us burst out. "Why you little-.. What have you done to Lucy? I bet it's all your fault!" I yelled, maintaining all my anger.

"I haven't done anything," he responds. "i actually came here to ask if you knew where Lucy was."

"Well, we don't actually know." Levy informed. "She was a little sick two weeks ago, do you know what happened, Natsu-san?"

"Well..." He began, his cheeks starts turning red. He's embarrassed?! "I've taken her to the lake everyday - before she stopped going to classes." he explained. His cheeks were still red and burning up.. I grabbed him by the collar of his shirt out of hostility, "Why are you blushing?! What have you done to her at the lake?! Spit it out, Dragneel, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO LU-CHAN?!" I yell at the top of my lungs, his face only inches away from mine.

"Put me down, you dirty-minded freak!" He pushed me away from his face, the impact throwing into the wall behind me. "And no, all I did was let her swim around with me, that's all. Cana, I'm only a high school student; Don't expect that from me." His cheeks get more red.

"Fiiine," I sighed, walking away from the wall.

"Juvia thinks we should all try and visit Lu-chan today, maybe Lu-chan will answer this time!" Juvia cheers, holding up both my and Levy's arms up in agreement.

"Why not," Natsu confirmed as he shrugged his shoulders.

"We didn't invite you, Natsu." I growled, inching closer to his face.

"Hey!" He hissed, "I'm just as much of Lucy's friend than you are, Cana." His face got closer to mine as we violently glared at each other.

"Cana, he's right." Levy said calmly. "ALL of us are going to Lucy's room." She proceeded to glare at me, "Okay, Cana?"

I frown and nod my head slightly. Ugh, why Natsu? All he's doing is causing Lucy trouble; after the whole Lisanna episode, I'm not going to accept this guy as a friend.

"Natsu, we'll meet you at the Girls' Dorm after school." Levy said, giving him the information. Natsu nodded his head, confirming the deal then walked to the other end of the hallway and walked up the stairs. Out of sight, and I'm glad.

I really hate Natsu.

"C-Cana!!" Levy calls out from behind me, "We have to wait wait for Natsu, remember?!"

"I'm not waiting for that jerk, I'm going on ahead." I grumble with hostility as I walk through the doors of the dorm. I push the buttons on the elevator to Lucy's room, and I arrive there in seconds. "Lu-chaan?" I called, knocking on the door simultaneously. "Are you in there?"

"Come in, Cana!" Lucy's voice answers beyond the door. I smile, now that she's finally allowing us to see her. I happily turn the knob to the door, and I'm immediately shocked when I see the scene.

"Natsu? What are you doing here?!" I shriek, looking at Nastu lying on Lucy's bed casually as Lucy sits beside him. "Y-you were supposed to wait for us!"

"You guys took to long," he replies, sounding half asleep, "I wanted to see Lucy's face..." I glanced over at Lucy quickly; her cheeks burning with a bright colour of pink. "Don't listen to him, Cana," she says, her voice faltering. "He's been asleep for a while.." She comments lightly, her expression soft as she stared at a snoring Natsu.

"So, Cana," Lucy burst out, grinning, "How are you? I haven't seen you in a while."

Pieces of sorrow and bits of anger fill up inside me, "Why do you say that so casually? Lu-chan, you haven't been at school for two weeks! We all miss you.."

Lucy's smile flips upside down, "Sorry, Cana. I've been sick for the past two weeks. I'm feeling better now, but I didn't want anyone to catch my cold. That's why I couldn't talk to any of you. "

I smile in forgiveness, "It's fine Lucy. Just, Me, Juvia and Levy were all going crazy without you. Natsu as well."

I see Lucy's cheeks growing pink again, "O-Oh.." I smile appears on her face.

I feel and evil smirk coming onto my face..

Natsu's POV

I give up on sleeping now. These girls are talking way too loud for my liking.

"Ooo! You're blushing; does Lu-chan have a crushh?" I recognizable voice teases. Telling that it's lower than most voices; It's Cana.

"Cana, uhm, can I tell you this?" Lucy's voice quavers, sounding really nervous.

"What is it?"

"I-I..." A small pause fills the room. "I'm in love with Natsu!" She yells, her voice faltering violently.

Lucy loves me?!
