Ben, Are You Okay?

"Ben, are you okay?" I asked. He didn't look okay. He seemed horrified at what he'd just done. I didn't know what to say to him to make this better. I honestly don't think I can.

Ben is crying now. I can see the tears streaming down his face even though he's trying to use his hoodie to hide his face.

"N-no." Ben replies. I can hear the sadness in his voice.

"What's wrong?"

"I killed someone."

"I know."

"She's dead because I killed her."

"And?"

"Do you even know what it's like to be dead?"

"I'm living. Of course I don't know."

"Do you mind if I tell you?"

"Not at all."

"It's completely awful. Nothing could ever be worse than being dead. I know you've died before but god kept on sending you back, but you've never got the chance to really be dead. It's awful, but everyone has to die at one point or another."

"So what does it matter that you killed her?"

"It matters because she probably doesn't have an afterlife. A time after she dies. A place where she goes. I just murdered a ghost."

"She was the most evil ghost in the world. Basically worst than hitler."

"I know. But I still feel bad about it."

"It just means you have morals. That's a good thing. Everyone should have morals."

"What good are morals if I'm going against them?"

"You were forced to. You had to save your family and the entire earth."

"All because you made a stupid deal with the devil." His tears are officially no more. I laugh a little."

"Exactly! None of this is your fault. All of it was just me being stupid like always and you having to help me out of it."

"Classic Klaus."

Diego gave me a weird look.

"Uhhh Klaus?" He asked.

"Yeah?"

"Who are you talking to?"

"Ben. He basically killed Satan and solved all our problems. I was just thanking him."

"Oh. Well, thanks Ben." I could tell Diego felt awkward trying to talk to someone he couldn't really see but the moment he said that the biggest smile appeared on Ben's face.

Allison's eyes opened quickly. She looked confused when she got up, her hand crept to the bandages around her damaged throat. Luther was beside her, clutching her hand.

"Don't try to speak. You might hurt yourself."

Allison made a gesture as though she was writing, Diego ran to get her a notebook.

When Diego returned with a notebook and a black sharpie she took it and scribbled down two words.

Vanya. Powers.

She underlined the word powers twice. I was confused. She turned the page.

Vanya has powers.

"Did she hurt you?" I knew that Luther would go to crazy extreme limits for Allison. If Vanya had powers now then maybe she was scared. Maybe she just didn't know how to use them yet. If Vanya did hurt Allison than Luther might do something extreme.

Allison turned the page again and scribbled two more words.

My fault.

I could tell Luther wasn't buying it. He still thought it was Vanya who hurt Allison. Five came back into the room with a glass of water for Allison and a newspaper in one hand.

"Guys. We have another problem."

"Yes?" I ask and we all turned to him.

"The world is still ending."

"How do you know? Didn't we stop it already?" Diego asks, getting to is feet, ready to take on whatever causes the apocalypse.

"I saw this exact headline when I was back in the apocalypse. Today is the day the world ends."

"Well how do we stop it?" Diego asks.

"I misunderstood the message last time. Harold Jenkins was the fuse, but Vanya was the bomb. She did this to Allison. She was the one who was controlling the weather and trees before."

Luther leans in. "What should we do about it?"

"She has a performance coming up." Five pulls a flyer with Vanya's face on it out of his jacket.

"You think it will happen then?" Diego asks, I can tell he's still ready for a fight, but not as much so as before. I know he wouldn't do anything to harm Vanya. He cares about her. We all care about her.

"It will happen around then but the best we can do is try to talk to Vanya and see what's actually going on."

"Allison tried talking to Vanya and look where that got her!" Luther yells, clearly getting fed up with this whole thing. I have to admit, the guy is pretty scary when he's angry. With his giant kong muscles and all, it makes him look like he's about to smash something.

"Luther, calm down!" Diego yells at him, trying to get him to back off. Diego is probably the only one who ever goes head to head with Luther. I remember they used to ruff house a lot when we were little. Usually when we weren't training and we were still young I would play dolls with Allison. It was fun while it lasted until Reginald suggested one day that I could do the same thing I did with the dolls with the dead people I was seeing. I never played again after that.

Luther eventually sat back down next to Allison on the small cot they had set up for her in the living room. She scribbled something down on her notepad and showed it to him. He relaxed more after that.

They seemed like such a genuinely happy couple. They really did love each other.

"So what's the plan?" Diego asked.

I usually stayed quite in the corner while they all discussed plans for missions and such. I knew my opinion didn't really matter when I came to this stuff and that all the others probably knew more about fighting than me, except maybe Ben.

"The plan is that we go find Vanya before her show this evening and try to help her out with this before it's too late."
