Guess My Name

Dave is looking away throughout the whole conversation with me and Allison. I know he can hear us though. I know he wants to get over him and go out to live my life but if he were in my place I think he would be doing the exact same thing I'm doing. Which is not getting over him.

There's an awkward silence between everyone as Five pulls up to the library parking lot.

"Time to find out who this Harold Jenkins is." He turns off the ignition and leaves the car. Allison, Luther and Diego go with him. I know I probably won't be much help to the group so I stay behind. At least it's not so crowded in the van now. I leave the back doors open so that I can get some fresh air. The sky is sunny. It almost looks like too happy of a day for the world to end.

Dave comes to sit beside me. He takes his hand in mine and intertwines our fingers. I know he still cares about me. But if he wants me to stop caring about him he's going to have to stop these gestures. Every time it only makes me fall for him more, if that is even possible.

"I'm sorry Klaus."

"I'm sorry too Dave."

"Please try to get over me."

"I can't."

"You can't love a dead person."

"I can when I can talk to the dead."

"This can't work out Klaus."

"We can make it work Dave."

"No we can't."

"Yes we can. This will all be fine. We can stay together just like we're doing now."

"It won't last forever. We can't be alive and dead and dating. Those are two entirely different worlds."

"But what I'm telling you is that we can." I'm getting frustrated with him now. I just want him to trust me on this. We can work together. He can stay here. With me. I know that if I just got better with my powers we could make this work even if he says we can't.

"Klaus....." he trails off, almost hesitant. I wonder if there's something he's not telling me.

Then I see it. In the distance, slowly marching towards us is a large crowd of people, a parade almost, all wearing gas masks and dark clothing. I look over at Dave. He's not scared. His expression reads more sad than scared. In the parade of people I can see massive eerie looking floats all black and grey. I can see baton twirlers and a I can hear a band slowly making their way closer to us. I can hear a bass drum holding it's steady beat. In the front of the parade there's a woman in a typical marching uniform, only hers is black. She has long curly white hair and the same gas mask on as everyone else. They all stop in front of the van. Dave looks over at me.

"I have to go back now."

"No." Emotions overwhelm me. He just got here, how can he be leaving already. I don't want Dave to go back, I just want him here with me. I can't be without Dave, Dave is my everything. They can't take him away from me again.

"Yes. I have to go."

"Please stay."

"I can't."

"I miss you already."

"You missed me before."

"What do you mean?"

"I'm dead Klaus. I'm not me, I'm dead."

"I can still talk to you."

"I need to leave now."

"Please don't."
