"Hold on," I asked, "We're gonna steal what?"

While chilling with Rachel was kind of wierd, her being the Oracle and all, attempting to conduct a conversation with these bozos (my best friends) at eight in the morning was totally off the wall.

"It's called the Tesseract," Jason explained, "It's an energy source."

"So it's a fancy lightbulb?" I asked

"No," Percy commented, "It's self sustaining."

"Nuclear-powered lightbulb?"

"Only it's blue and from space, " Jason added. "Didn't you see the Avengers?"

"Oh yeah, the glowing Pandora's box of death! I remember. Wait. You're telling me that all the stuff in the movie was real and three people are about to steal the most dangerous thing on the planet?"

"Universe," Percy corrected. "And we will have more than 3 people."

"Like who?" I wondered.

"Well, we were gonna have 8," Jason started, "but Rascal and Kendall aren't available right now, so it'll just be us three, Annabeth, Piper, and Zeus."

"Ok, sound like a plan to me. So when do we... wait, THE Zeus?"

"How many Zeus' do you know?"

"Well," I answered, "there's the world's tallest dog, there's the rock band, there's the comic--"

"Never mind," Percy interrupted. "We're talking about the Olympian Zeus."

"Holy Hephestus! That's totally awesome! So when do we start taking other people's stuff? I wanna see if it's as fun as it sounds.

Five and a half hours later we were off to the city. For whatever reason, I had never noticed the giant tower with the letter A on top. Then again, I had only left camp a few times over the past few months. Most of which were dates. Ok, all of which were dates. (Hey, we've got everything in Bunker 9).

"Now," Zeus thundered, "While I am weaker in this mortal form, I'm still stronger than all of you combined, so i will obviously lead this mission."

"And probably more arrogent than all of us combined." I whispered to Percy who snickered. Zeus gave me a disapproving glare.

"Annabeth, Piper, and Jason," he continued, "you three will create a diversion that needs Avengers attention. You will stage a broadcast that aliens from another planet are murdering and abducting citizens and they've marked Jason as their next victim."

"Why me," Jason asked, "Why not Percy?"

"Because," Zeus replied, "I need Percy for something else. Percy, you will actually take the Tesseract. Use the GPS chip I gave you and destroy it when you have the 084."

"And what about yours truly?" I asked.

"Flame boy, you're coming with me. Realistically, they aren't going to send their whole squad out after a few aliens, so we get to take out whoever stays behind or comes back."

"Dude, that's awesome!" I attempted to give Zeus a fist bump, but he gave me a blank stare." It's a fist bump. We bump fists like this," I demonstrated with Jason.

"You mortals are so petty," Zeus sighed. "Well, everybody get into position. We will begin on my go at dusk."

"How will we know your 'go'?" Piper asked.

"Trust me," Jason said, "You'll know."

I went down a few streets to take a break before catching back up with Zeus. I found myself standing a few feet away from Avengers Tower. Man, that was one sweet piece of tech. It would look great on fire. I considered calling Rachel at one of the telephone booths nearby, when I recieved an Iris message.

"Hey, Leo!"

"Oh, how's it going Rachel?"

"I'm pretty good, but you aren't."

"Wait, what?"

"Don't go with Zeus to Avengers Tower tonight."

"Why not?"

"I, I just have a bad feeling."

"Don't worrry Lizzy, I'll be fine. I'm just playing firefighter. I fight with fire, Zeus does the real work."

"I'm telling you Leo Valdez, don't go. Please, I love you."

Zeus approached me from the west. "Well, sorry, but I gotta go for now. Talk to you tomorrow, love ya." With that I ended the Iris message.

I turned around and did a double take. The phone box I was gonna call Rachel from was gone, as if it had vanished into thin air.
