We had finally rendezvoused afterward. No word had come through from Natasha or Bruce on Hydra except that Nick Fury had been compromised. The word had also come in that President Cotier had been killed. And that his murderer had demanded that Tony come to some abandoned amusement park. That wasn't happening. The other three of them would just have to meet and figure things out.
Right now, I was yelling at Tony about losing the Tesseract and Captian America had just entered the room.
"You let him get away?"
"Well, Thor, you see, while you were sitting around twiddling your thumbs, Cap and I were kind of tied up and--"
"You had ONE job and you let a teenage boy stop you? You are not worthy of being an Avenger, Tony."
Worthy. What makes an Avenger worthy? Dedication to the cause, which Stark seems to be showing a severe lack of.
"Fine then. I'm not worthy. So what? We can't be divided now. The threat we are facing is too big."
"Too big? Like your ego?" Captain America interjected, "What's so special about you? You're a millionaire who made some fancy armor for himself."
"Billionaire. Not to mention genius, playboy, and philanthropist. And last I checked, everything special about you, Captain, came out of a bottle."
"At least I have something special about me."
"Something that my father designed, last I checked."
"Tony, your father might have been a great man, but you are a corrupted, self-obsessed-"
"ENOUGH!" I slammed my hammer down on a nearby table, "We are Avengers, we don't argue among ourselves."
"No, Thor, I'm not worthy to be an Avenger, remember."
"That's besides the point, you two--"
"You know what, Tony, put on the suit. Let's go a few rounds."
"Gentlemen--"
"That's not a bad idea, Cap, I've made some modifications since the last time we met." Tony extended his arm to summon his suit."
This was it. I raised my hammer to strike Tony. He raised the gauntlet of his suit and blocked my hammer, sending me backward.
Captain America threw his shield, which he had retrieved from across the room. Iron Man caught it. "There's only one thing that can break your shield, Cap, so I thought 'Why not make a suit out of it?' Behold the Mark 44. Made from adamantium." He raised his fist and smashed Cap's shield into three pieces that clattered to the ground.
I wanted to kill him. I hated people with more power than me. I had to be the best. Victory for Asgard.
Raising my hammer, I summoned lightning inside the tower, destroying whatever was above me. As I brought it down on Iron Man I felt a reassuring sensation. Power. Yet he didn't even seem fazed.
"The best thing about adamantium, strong metals are good conductors of electricity." He shot my lightning right back at me.
I narrowly avoided the blast, rolling to the side. Just then I heard a voice.
"No, no, no, this can't be right, why are you taking me here?"
We all froze. A young man stepped from behind the corner dressed like he came from a fancy dinner party.
"Good morning, gentlemen, would any of you pudding brains happen to know why it shows that Winter Quay is right under your building?"
"Identify yourself." Iron Man ordered.
