We had met the sisters about an hour ago. They took us to their "house" that happened to be under the lake. (The sisters used their powers to keep us dry as we went under, but Kendall's hair "accidentally got wet on the way down).

They had shown us around and given us something to eat and now they were going to tell us their story.

"Well," Jay started, "there's not much to tell. We were born of the water and some nymphs raised us. Hailey got mad at a few of the nymphs though and we found ourselves in this strange house."

"it already had most of the supplies we would need for that year, we were seven then; and a training room, which we haven't shown you yet. They even moved Jay's extra leg. But they kicked us out of their place."

"So," Thor questioned, "you've been living on your own since you were seven?"

"Pretty much."

"And what did you mean by Jay's "extra leg?"

"You didn't notice?" Jay asked. She stood up and I now saw that her right leg was golden from the knee down and looked like it could do more than look shiny.

"I was kinda crippled when I was born, so the nymphs gave me this magical prosthetic leg. It grows as I get taller and has a few combat features that weren't supposed to unlock until I turned 18.

Kendall apparently hadn't heard this part of their story, "Did they unlock early?"

"Sorta. A couple of years ago when I was 13, a stranger came along, he couldn't have been more that 15 himself, and he hacked into the legs magic with his--"

Hailey kicked her. "He told us not to tell anyone about that," she hissed.

"Ri-ight. Anyways, it was unlocked early. It has some awesome features, but you'll see those later. That's why I always wear basketball shorts. If wore jeans I wouldn't be able to use it."

"So," I wondered, "how have you lived hear for, what, eight years?"

'Yeah, about eight."

"How have you lived here for eight years without going into the world?"

"Oh, Hailey replied, "we've gone into the world. We just raid Wal-mart for whatever we need."

"You don't get caught?"

"Of course not. We get the mortals to do it for us. We take the goods, they take the blame."

"But we're in the middle of the forest." Kendall observed, "How do you get to Wal-mart?"

"Our house can be wherever there is water." Jay answered. "Right now we're in the State Park because Poseidon told us to wait for you, Kendall. We were about to leave then they showed up."

"Kendall," I asked, "how long have you been here?"

"A few hours."

"Ah, ok. Is there any water near New Orleans? We kinda have a problem Weeping Angels and all."

"Of course there's water near New Orleans," Hailey answered, "I mean, it borders the Gulf of Mexico. But we prefer smaller bodies of water so I'll check on that."

"Do you just do whatever the gods tell you to do?" Thor asked.

"Well, what else do we have to do? We kinda help them with different tasks and stay in the background. Recently Hailey and I delayed Octavion and his minions and kept them from raising the dead to fight on their side."

"Raise the dead?" Kendall asked, "like who?"

"They wanted to resurrect Luke Castellen, Michael Varus, Medusa, people like that. We stopped them. That's why Octavian had a scar on the back of his hand. But he never said anything and no one else dared to ask him about it."
