Desmond

Desmond sat in his warehouse listening to Kissing on my Tattoos by August Alsina on his beats pill. He was heartbroken and all he wanted to do was wallow in his new singleness. Right as the song was starting over he heard the door open. He turned around and noticed James hobbling in the room on his crutches. He sighed sitting on the couch.

"This is some bullshit!" He said annoyed. Desmond looked at him nodding letting him know he was listening. James looked at him.

"What's up, Jay." He said. James looked at Desmond giving him a head nod and noticed the music.

"You good?" He asked. Desmond nodded.

"Why you ask?" He said. James started laughing.

"August Alsina music will have you wanting to quit the game." He said laughing. "I know better." He continued. Desmond chuckled still not really paying attention. James grabbed his crutches and hobbled over to the speaker, he turned off the music as Desmond looked at him.

"Bro, What the fuck?" Desmond asked.

"I can't. You better than this man" James said. Desmond looked at him with no emotion. Normally it was ok for him to be emotionless but something was up. "Who pissed in your fruit loops anyway?" He asked. Desmond shook his head going into a deeper depression.

"I broke it off with Addy." He said. James looked at him with wide eyes, his crutches practically falling out from under his arm then sat back down.

"Real talk?" He said.

"Yea, man I had to let her go." He said.

"Bro, maybe I'm high but this ain't making no sense. You broke up with her and you sad. It don't usually work like that, what happened?" James expressed.

"Real talk, after seeing you and Mel I knew I couldn't put her through this shit. I kept thinking what if that was Addy? What if I didn't make it? Then what? I just couldn't put her through it. I got some unfinished business with the streets, I had to let her go." He said. James shook his head.

"Call her." He said. Desmond looked at him crazy.

"You might be high because I broke up with her nigga, you think she want to talk to me right now?" He asked Jay rhetorically. James sighed.

"Look, you my boy but, you bout dumb as hell breaking up with that girl like that. Mel knew what she was signing up for when we got together. We ride for each other. She love a nigga, and we gotta baby boy so she was scared but she knows it's a chance you gotta take in the game. She know I got the streets to worry about but at the end of the day, she's willing to endure all that pain because she loves me." James said.

"Now I know Addy love you on some same type shit. Go get your girl back. I know she a keeper. I heard she got your hard ass to go to church." James said laughing. Desmond shook his head. James looked at him.

"You a fool Jay!" Des said as he shook his head. He then looked off into the distance.

"You ain't go for her, did you?" He asked. Desmond kept shaking his head.

"Not really." He said. James sighed.

"This got something to do with them kids that went missing?" He asked

"little bit," Desmond said.

"What's that supposed to mean?" James asked.

"I killed the boy, he killed the girl himself," Desmond responded.

"Damn, it be the ones you least expect," James said talking about Dante. Desmond and James laughed together.

"I'm happy I got you laughing. But fa-serious Addy love you. She want you to be safe out here but, what real woman don't? You in here all sad and she out there in the world available for some lame ass nigga to come bag her." He said. Desmond nodded. Then shook his head no.

"I love her Jay, but I won't see her in pain. What I go through she goes through. I won't put her through anything she can't handle." Desmond said. James sighed.

"Or is it putting her through it something you can't handle?" James asked. Desmond looked at him. James grabbed his crutches and got up. "Think about it." He said getting up and leaving. Desmond silently thought to himself. Was James right?
