MAYA’S P.O.V.

After my long day at work, I was happy to finally curl up in bed and fall asleep with Harry. My eyes closed slowly and I let sleep envelope me…

“Harry…” I moaned, feeling the side of his bed for him. I had my eyes closed and I felt as if I couldn’t open them. I hummed in the back of my throat, wondering where he went. I had no idea what time it was, but I really didn’t care. I just wanted Harry to hold me right now.

“He’s not here,” a voice told me. A familiar voice.

I moaned again, “Yes he is…” I mumbled, still trying to find him on his side of our bed.

“I said he’s not here,” the voice came up again. I tried putting a name to the voice, but I couldn’t think of who it was. I couldn’t even see who was speaking. My eyes were so heavy; I couldn’t even force them open. It was like when I was in the hospital. The endless darkness…

“I love you Maya,” I could hear a smile behind the voice. It was getting closer to me.

“I love you Harry,” I mumbled, turning onto my side, my eyes still sealed shut. I reached out for my husband but he wasn’t there.

“I told you, Harry’s not here,” the voice said sternly. I stopped what I was doing and listened.

“Where is Harry?” I whispered after a little while of silence.

“He’s away,” the masculine voice replied.

            “Where?” I demanded.

There was a bit of silence again. “I’m the one you love Maya.”

“I only love Harry,” I stated simply.

I felt a tension growing in the air, “HARRY IS NOT HERE!” the voice was enraged and I felt myself start to shy away from Harry’s side of the bed. I took some deep breaths before the voice came up again, “He’s dead.”

I got punched in the gut. No he wasn’t. He wasn’t dead. No, no, no, no, no.

“You’re lying,” I choked out. I could feel tears falling from my closed eyes.

“Open your eyes, Maya,” the voice demanded. I did, without any trouble, and looked around the pitch black room. Someone stepped into the light shining on mine and Harry’s bed. The first thing I saw was the blue eyes, and I knew exactly who it was. Tate. “Look at your wrist Maya,” he whispered, with a devious smile.

I dared to look down at my left wrist and instead of my husband’s name written there, it was Tate’s. My breathing hitched and I cried even harder.

“Maya, wake up,” I heard another voice tell me.

I looked around and Tate looked angry. I took some more deep breaths and cried even harder. “HARRY!” I screamed.
