HARRY’S P.O.V.

“Mmm…” I moaned quietly in the back of my throat as I stretched out in bed the next morning. My back was to Maya, so the sun spilling into our room was shining right on my face. I yawned and laid down on my back, letting my head fall back and my eyes close again. “Maya,” I mumbled, turning so I was facing her side of the bed. My eyes were still closed as I put my arm out to reach for her. I just wanted to give her a hug; maybe a kiss. Just to try to apologize for what I said last night.

I felt around her side of the bed, but only felt unoccupied sheets. My eyes peeled open and saw that Maya’s side of the bed was empty. Why did she get out of bed?

I groaned and laid back down and stared at the ceiling. After a while, I dragged myself out of bed and walked into our bathroom to clean myself up. By the looks of my hair, it looked like I had a rough night last night. I quickly brushed my teeth and walked back out into our room. Maya must be in the kitchen already…

I bounded down the stairs and into the kitchen. I smiled as I entered, but realized Maya wasn’t there. I checked her coffeepot, but nothing was started. The entire kitchen was the way we left it last night.

            Where is she?

I checked every room on the main floor, but she was nowhere. I figured maybe she went in the basement to clean some laundry, so I checked down there. Still nothing. No one was there. I ran back upstairs to the second floor and checked every single room we had up there. I even went all the way up in the attic, but it was still the same dusty and crammed room it always was.

I went back to the second floor and walked back into our room. I checked Maya’s closet, but she wasn’t there.

Wait, she could’ve gone out somewhere. Maybe food shopping?

I ran back down the stairs and out the front door. Her car was still in the driveway. Confused, I walked back into the house and called out her name. No reply.

I was honestly getting scared. Maya would never just leave. It just wasn’t like her. She would always tell me where she was going, but we were almost always together.

“Maya!” I called a second time. I ran back upstairs and into our room. I was starting to get angry now. I checked her side of the bed and found a note of her night table. No.

“Bye. Please don’t come find me,” I read out loud. Her bracelet was on the table too. I felt my hands shake angrily as I held the note in my hands. I read it over a couple times before I ripped it up and crumpled it up in my hand. I threw it on the floor and ran back downstairs.

Once I reached the kitchen I grabbed my cell phone and pressed number two on my speed dial. I pressed my phone to my ear and waited for the ringing. Instead it went straight to her voicemail.

“Hey its Maya Styles, you’ve reached my voicemail. Sorry I can’t get to the phone right now, but if you leave your name and number, I’ll be sure to get back to you. Thanks so much for calling! Bye!”
