Every cart was full, so many kids that even the halls were packed. We came to the very end and found one of the compartments almost empty, two other siblings inside.
"Hello, do you mind if we join you here?" I asked a soft smile on my face. The younger boy looked up and smiled softly.
"No, we don't mind," he whispered, his face sad. His sister not saying anything, possibly due to distraught from being separated from her family. I motioned my family inside, Lucy smiled at the two siblings and sat down on the chair. Peter walked in next carrying Susan's case, and his own. Edmund being his stubborn self, laid his case on the ground away from the two siblings and sat on it. I motioned for Susan to sit down and she scurried over to me and sat down. I stood next to Peter and watched the scenery change, Peter closed his eyes and slid down, sitting on the floor and resting, all of us tired from the bombing last night.
The train stopped many times, the two siblings that were with us, waved a goodbye to me and hoped off. I saw the pair as a couple looked at their tags, disgruntled and started pushing the two siblings around, I sadly looked on and watched them go, the train continuing to move forward. Time went by the day slowly disappearing, our stop came next and we were the last ones.
I looked at the wooden station and all of us raced down the stairs as we heard a car approach. Lucy had gotten their first and smiled but the car went past us not a care for us being there.
"The Professor knew we were coming?" Susan questioned.
"Perhaps we've been incorrectly labelled?" Edmund suggested as he looked at his label. I looked up at the sound of a carriage approached us. The carriage stopped in front of us and a stern looking woman stared at us.
"Mrs. Macready?" I asked, my voice light.
"I'm afraid so. Is that it then? Haven't you brought anything else?" She questioned her tone becoming a little softer after I spoke.
"No, ma'am. It's just us." I whispered as I looked to my siblings with a smile.
"Small favours." The woman muttered. She motioned for us to get on, I helped Peter get Lucy up and then helped Susan up, I didn't bother Edmund as he climbed his way up, Peter jumped up and I saw there was little space for me. I smiled and climbed up as well and sat on Peters lap. Our cases had taken mostly all the space, so Peter didn't mind that I had sat on him. While driving the horse over the lawn, some comments like giddy up, good girl were heard. When we stopped a young boy came over and took the reins from Mrs. Macready and pulled the horse and carriage away once we collected our belongings.
Mrs. Macready took her coat, gloves and hat off and turned to us. "The professor is unaccustomed to having children in his house, and as such, there are a few rules we need to follow." Mrs. Macready said, I nodded, and I knew that my siblings were groaning in their heads, apart from Susan. "There will be no shouting' or running', no improper use of the dumbwaiter, NO touching of the historical artefacts!" She shouted causing Susan to jump back from a statue that she was about to touch. "And above all, there shall be no disturbing' of the Professor." She whispered.
