Emerson's POV
"REMINGTON!!!" I cried at the top of my lungs as I ran to the edge, but Sebastian held me back as he stood in shock. I broke free of his grip and peered over the edge only to see that they were gone. Must have fallen into the beach. They would never be able to survive the fall. As I stood frozen there on my hands and knees, just staring at the carnivorous ocean, the pain I felt all over my body and in my mind felt worse than anything that could have happened to me physically. "Joanna...", the girl whispered in disbelief as her knees feel to the ground and tears gathered in her eyes. The guy's fists were shaking as he stared at the ground. "How could she be so stupid?! This never would have happened if she hadn't-" "No!" I interjected. "It wasn't her fault. It wasn't any of their fault. It was ours." They all liked at me like I was crazy. I got up and continued talking.
"WE are to blame. All of us. We made them feel like they were alone and shunned with this feud between us. They were forced to find happiness in the most dangerous way possible, all because they were afraid of how we'd punish them if they did. If we hadn't had this much hate between our bands, their love could have been celebrated instead of scolded. Our families would be bigger in the best way possible. But, now our families are smaller all because of this stupid rivalry between us. I feel responsible for it even if I didn't want to feel hate toward her anymore after learning she became a part of my family. If the fact that they weren't happy because of us isn't punishment enough, then this would probably be it, no matter how much we don't want it."
As I turned back to the spot where I last saw my brother and my sister-in-law stood, I could see in the corner of my eye the lead singer of Calypso walk up to Sebastian and reach his palm out. After a couple of seconds, he shook it and then brought him in for a hug. Then, the girl walked up to Andrew and laid a hand on his shoulder, and he put his arm around hers as she cried into his. The crowd below us started to look at each other, and maybe I was crazy, but I saw every single person holding hands with someone else. Those who were fans of Calypso's reached out to comfort our fans. It was the most bittersweet moment I may have ever witnessed in my life. This must have been the moment our feud finally ended. If only the price wasn't so high for this to happen.
*One Month Later*
Ivy's POV
After the tragic event in our city, the Mayor canceled the music festival, which we were okay with, and we announced to all our fans that the rivalry between our bands was over for good. A lot of our fans were heartbroken, and fans of Palaye Royale went out of their way to comfort them most of the time, and it seemed like our family got bigger. It was still hard for our bands. We'd talk to each other sometimes, and it actually helped to talk out how we were feeling. Not to mention also getting to know them. Turns out we've got a lot more common interests than we originally thought. Luke and Sebastian enjoy the same kind of alcohol, Andrew and I learned a few cool techniques of playing our instruments, and me and Emerson were probably the most surprising. I've never told anyone this because I didn't want to seem uncool, but I was a bit into art when I was younger, and when I showed Emerson my old drawings, he told me they were magnifique and that I have a special gift for this. I didn't let him see me, but that made me blush like a damn teenage girl.
I went to visit Jasper who was still in the hospital, and I brought Emerson with me. When he saw him with me in the room, he got really upset. I told him that Palaye Royale are not to be hated anymore. He seemed close-minded and didn't want to listen, he just had to look of death in his eyes when he saw Emerson. I then explained what happened to his cousin and their lead singer, who turned out to be her husband in secret. As I told him everything that happened even the tragic end for both of them, his hateful expression started to soften, and it turned to guilt. "Oh, Joanna", he mumbled. "If I hadn't been so overprotective and prejudiced, she wouldn't have been so scared of me." "You're not the only one to blame", Emerson chimed in, "I should have been there for my brother and helped him realize he deserved to share everything with us." I then held Em's hand, and he looked at me in surprise, and smiled at me as I smiled back while blushing.
