You walk out of your room and headed downstairs, you are greeted by your mother when you enter the kitchen. "You all ready to go?" She ask you looking up from her phone. She is always busy working on her phone. She works from home and is usually doing stuff from her phone or her mac. She was always on phone calls, which you didn't really mind much you just wish it was not as frequent as they always were.
"Of course." You say grabbing the keys. "I'll drive. I need more practice after all" You only had your permit so you needed someone with a driver's license and over 21 to be in the passenger seat with you no matter what. You always were excited to get on the road. In a way it was your snip bit of freedom. Like dipping your toes into a pool to test the temperature.
We set out on the road. You did not live that far from the mall, maybe a good 15 minutes. Your mother decided to spark up a conversation with you.
"You have not hung out with your friends in a while. Have they been busy?" She had her eyes on her phone. Working, of course. That was what bothered you, even when talking to you she was on her phone. But you love her, nonetheless.
"Oh well, it's more of I have just been busy with school. It's been stressful the past couple of weeks. All these projects and essays." You said that like it was natural and what had actually been the case. You had just gotten used to that excuse.
"Hm." That's all she said.
Great she doesn't believe it
Bill Cipher, that damned demon showed up next to you and whispered in your ear.
"Boo."
This cause you to jerk the car suddenly. Cause you, your mom, and I'm sure the others on the road to panic.
"Whoa what happened? What's wrong?" You mother yelled out suddenly.
You take a big deep breathe in shooting a sideways glare to Bill while keeping your eyes somewhat on the road. "There was a rabbit that hopped out onto the road" That was such a horrible lie. Not many rabbits live in the area, and you were on the left side of the road next to a median.
Stupid.
"Oh god. That scared me" your mother says holding onto her chest, she the continues her work on her phone. "Try to be more careful when avoiding creatures, you could have ran into a car" she informs you.
Bill the entire time was laughing, he still is.
What is wrong with him. You thought as you squinted at him through the rear-view mirror. He was wiping tears from his eye.
"Not funny" You mutter towards Bill, he was really getting on your nerves.
"Did you say something?" You mother ask, still working.
"Just humming a song" you tell her. Bill calmed down but broke out into another fit of laughter. You rolled your eyes at him. The rest of the ride would be like this. Your whole day was now ruined. It would take a miracle to bring it up again.
You arrived at the mall where you walked in. You were ignoring Bill, but he wasn't saying anything either. He was just observing the scene around him. You took out your phone and texted your friends to see where they were at. You waited for a minute before they responded. "Come on, they are over by 'Rue 21'" You tell Bill. Of course you looked insane to other people. But you ignored them and went on.
"How about we make a quick stop somewhere first. Tell them you are about 10 minutes away" Bill told you.
"Are you kidding me? I just got here, can you chill out for just a second?" You berated him.
"Come on toots, it will only take a second" Bill said putting an arm around you and waving his hand around.
You moved away from his arm and pulled out your phone. Telling your friends that you will be 10 minutes.
"Okay, where to?" You ask walking towards the bathroom hallway where it was empty so you could actually talk to Bill without being understood as crazy. Which at this point you even thought so. With a snap of Bills fingers you were in another environment. A totally different one.
